Golf Tournament
Overview and Intent
The purpose of the golf tournament is primarily to serve as a fundraiser for a charity of the chapter’s choice. The chapter will provide tee times and caddies (optionally) for the participants as well as track participant standings and potentially offer prizes.
Participants Required
The number of needed participants is open. The organization can be handled by 1 or 2 people. If caddies are being provided as well, the number of golfers will be determined by the number of available volunteers. A maximum number of participants would be determined by the course and time available.
Materials Required
Prize (optional)
Extra golf equipment (optional)
Food (optional)
Key Tasks
1. Coordinate with the course.
2. Get brothers involved (playing, caddying)
3. Advertise. Get people outside the fraternity involved.
Steps Required
1. Contact local courses. They may have a set practice for setting up smaller tournaments, or you may just need to see when a block of tee times is available. Find out the cost per golfer, riding fees, equipment rental and any other costs involved (private room for after, group rates)
2. Set a date. Based on course and participant availability.
3. Find other costs. If there is a trophy or food, include the cost in the total.
4. Decide the cost to participate. Should cover any fees, other costs and a donation.
5. Advertise and sign up. Use the local alumni internal, IFC, school golf club, organizations related to the cause that’s being supported.
6. Confirm everything is ready prior to the event.
7. Play golf.
8. If caddies were provided, they should keep score. If not, collect all score cards and rank the participants. Thank everyone for their involvement.
