DISTRICT 6 BOARD MEETING MINUTES
February 24, 2014

Board Members Present: Rob Shuman, Mike Jones, Derrick Schluck, Tom Mara, Chris Evans, Monica Strout, Jake Mars, Dave Kemp, Todd Beck, Don Strom, and Sharon Morgan
Board Members Absent:John Amoe, Tim Mayasich, Kurt Hyster, Kyle Crowe, Todd Hallett, Dick Emahiser, Brad Hewitt, Pat Westrum, and Sharon Morgan
Reps Present for the following Associations: Burnsville – Tom Boland, Chaska/Chan – Mike Clauson, Eden Prairie- Blair Engelbrekt, Jefferson –Tony Zosel, Minnetonka –TJ Worrell, New Prague – Bruce Cameron, Shakopee –Scott Eckers, Waconia – Derek Siddons

The meeting was called to order by President Elect Mike Jones at 7:04pm. M – Blair Engelbrekt / S – Mike Jones / P – all in favor, 1 abstained to accept the meeting minutes from the January 27, 2014, meeting.
OFFICER REPORTS:
President, Todd Hallett: Absent
President Elect & Safe Sport,Mike Jones: No Report
District Director, Brad Hewitt: Absent. Report submitted via Chris Evans: AA Rankings and Brackets are out and a video on how they were selected is also on the website.
League Operations, Bob Shuman:
- B1 & A tourneys are wrapped up, B2 & C playoffs have started and AA & PW B Brackets done/posted
- Thank you to Prior Lake and Chaska for hosting tournaments.
- League score reporting proposed change for next year: Win, Lose or Draw the home team submits scoresheet.
- Parent Issues: they are getting more aggressive and out of control. HEP Parent Education is to protect the coaches, players, refs and other spectators
- Prior Lake Policy if parent gets ejected:
- 1x = 30 day suspension from the rink
- 2x = 90 day suspention from the rink
- 3x = banned from the rink for the rest of the season
- Reminder if there is a parent ejection the team loses its fair play point
- ACTION: Feed back requested –MN Hockey want to set guidelines. Please submit examples of your policies on this subject
- Owatonna did not show up for their last two league games and they will not be rescheduled. Not likely to allow them to return next year.
Treasurer/Administrator, Chris Evans:
- D6 is Hosting 10 A/B, Bantam AA and Jr Gold State
- Substitute Goalies for Regions/State: if you only have one goalie on the roster your team needs to find another and send in substitution request for approval. Also, follow the guidelines for the goalie substituting as addressed on the form.
USA Hockey Associate Registrar, Monica Strout:No Report
Supervisor of Officials, Dave Kemp:
- Currently assigning crews to the various tournaments. All Officials needed to have their safe sport training completed by December 31, 2013 in order to be considered for post season touraments.
Assistant Coach-in-Chief, Todd Beck:
- USAH National Collegiate Hockey Conference Coaches Clinic is Saturday, March 22, 2013 @ Mpls Marriot City Ctr. Register on $90/coach. Direct questions to Christian Koelling @
- 2 Clinics Scheduled for next season: Level 1, 2, and 3 @ Eden Prairie on 10/25/14 & 11/22/14
- Level 5 Coaching Clinic will be in Las Vegas in August

Rec Hockey League, Tom Mara: End of Year Festival will be March 15 @ BIG
Metro League Rep, Don Strom: JG State Tournament will begin March 14-16 @ Edina

Invitational Tournaments, Kurt Hyster: Absent.
Girl’s Director, Kyle Crowe: Absent
Past President, John Amoe: Absent.
ASSOCIATION REPORTS:
Burnsville –Gambling Audit is done and was easy, only had a minor wording issue.
Eden Prairie – Board Elections – Need a new D6 Rep and Registrar.
Jefferson – Squirt A team won the ND Tourney
Chaska -No Report Edina - AbsentKennedy– Absent Shakopee – No report
Richfield – Absent New Prague – No Report Waconia – No Report Minnetonka – No Report Prior Lake – Absent
Old Business: None
New Business:
- Substitute Goalies @ Squirt and 10U A & B Maroon Level
- Current D6 Rule is that no substitute goalies are allowed at any Squirt / 10U level
- At other Districts, substitutes are allowed and we want to keep our teams competitive with their peers.
- Rules remain the same for the Squirt/10U Gold level with a district season ending tournament
- Proposed D6 Rule Change:
- To allow petitions for substitute goalies at the Squirt/10U A & B Maroon level during post-season play which will carry through to the Tournament of Champions. Teams must follow the Substitute Goalie request procedures as outlined in the D6 rulebook.

- The March 17 District 6 Board Meeting is canceled.
