eCourse Base Template
/ Start Here Examples: Use this section to explain what you expect from your students and to lay down the rules and policies of the course. Beginning 09T1, the Site Map will now be located within the Start Here area. Without a Site Map, students can become frustrated and discouraged. Please make sure to include this navigational guide to assist your students./ Announcements: At the beginning of the term, you must post a "Welcome" announcement. In this announcement, you should provide students with some preliminary information about the course. During the remainder of the term, you may post as many announcements as you see fit. For example, you may want to remind students of looming deadlines or advise them regarding technical issues or problems.
/ Instructor Contact: Please provide a brief professional biography here. We encourage you to upload a recent photograph. This "connects" you with your students.
/ Syllabus Template: You will place a copy of your course syllabus under the Syllabus button. When building your course, be sure to use the eTROY standardized syllabus as a template. Please download the attached file and fill in the appropriate information pertaining to your course. Once you are done, go the Control Panel, click on Syllabus and attach the new document.
/ Course Documents: This section should contain all the lecture notes for the course. You are also free to use any software that you want to post the course lecture notes (Microsoft Word, Power Point, etc.). At your discretion, you may also type the notes directly into the dialog box pertaining to a given folder.
/ Assignments: All assessment measures that you plan to use (homework, term papers, etc.) must be posted here. A folder is provided in the eCourse for each unit of this course. You may populate each of these folders with the content and instructional activities which you feel are most appropriate for the unit. You may also post exams here. Please use a separate folder, with an appropriate label, for each assessment measure. Review the assignment feature video attached to set up your assignments in blackboard.
/ Discussion Board: Three discussion board forums are mandatory in this course, and they appear automatically in the eCourse shell. At your discretion, you may use additional content forums.
/ Exams / Quizzes: Place course assessments here, along with detailed instructions. Be sure to follow any guidelines from your academic college regarding the number and types of assessments required.
/ External Links: A minimum of three links are required. At your discretion, you may use additional links. Please post all external links in this area. These may include, but are not limited to, links that expand on the material presented in the textbook. Troy University Links: It is very important that students are provided with links to the Troy University Library, Adaptive Needs services, and the Oracle. Please make sure to include these links in your course.
/ Tech/Proctor Info: The folders here are generated automatically in every course. These items are here to help students learn more about proctoring requirements at eTROY, as well as the technology used in online courses. A number of how-to guides, videos and manuals are available to assist online learners. Please do not remove these three folders.
/ Course Tools: This portion of the course gives you and your students access to tools that can be used for both synchronous and asynchronous communication.
