FAQ section

Here are some common questions about the registration process with Team Xtreme

1.  Q. What if I want to play for the Airdrie Xtreme but I don’t live in one of the LMHAs that you’ve listed?

A.  We’re sorry but we can’t help you. Hockey Alberta rules require that you reside in the Xtreme draw zone in order to register and try out for the Xtreme. All Bantam aged hockey players in Alberta live in a draw zone for a Bantam AAA team, so find your draw zone and register with your team… See you in the rink!

2.  Q. What if I`m not sure about the draw zone boundaries?

A.  You could check with Hockey Alberta regarding boundaries, or check with the LMHA where you played last year. You may call us if you still aren’t sure and we will try to help. Most likely we will ask you to complete a Hockey Alberta Parent Declaration to document your residency before you can register and tryout with the Xtreme.

3.  Q. What do I need to do to prepare for Camp?

A.  You should work hard this summer to improve your aerobic, power, strength and flexibility aspects of your conditioning. Come to camp fit and strong! Doing some skating before Selection camp can help too. That’s why the Team Xtreme Conditioning camp might be a good choice for you.

4.  Q. What should my parents do to help me prepare?

A.  Parents can help by encouraging you to work hard with your physical conditioning program, and by helping with good nutrition. Also, simple encouragement and positive feedback are always welcome. Having a good positive attitude is important for success, and encouragement always helps. Parents should not worry about weaknesses in your hockey game – Bantam is development hockey and your coaches will help you improve…

5.  Q. I’m not sure if I’m a good enough hockey player to tryout….

A.  Well, you won’t know if you’re good enough unless you come and try out….Worst case you get to compete and train with the best players of your age-group in this zone. Camp will help improve your game! Camp will get you ready to go for AA or Rep hockey tryouts! And, you might surprise yourself…many players have made Xtreme and become very successful hockey players but weren’t sure until they tried out…

6.  Q. I’m a first year Bantam. Why should I bother with Team Xtreme tryouts?

A.  We accept high potential first year players on the Xtreme every year. So, come and try out and see how good you are. When you try out and make the Xtreme as a first year you tell everyone that you’re special… And, if you try out as a first year it will give you a leg up for next year – you’ll know what to expect at Camp and how to work to improve your game…
