KNOWLEDGE /
  1. A knowledge of the relationship between the media and PR professionals.
  2. An understanding of social media and the benefits in terms of ROI, crisis
    management and customer service, and the dangers it brings.
  3. An understanding of the principles of monitoring and evaluating Communications and media activity.
  4. An up-to-date knowledge of effective office systems.
  5. An appreciation of current affairs and UK political affairs.
  6. An appreciation of Government aspirations for the aviation industry.
  7. An appreciation of the Midlands business community.
  8. An understanding of the environmental pressures facing the aviation industry.

EXPERIENCE /
  1. Experience within a communications environment.
  2. Experience of working on integrated Marcoms campaigns.
  3. Proven experience of effective day-to-day contact with the media.
  4. Experience of writing media content - including press releases, statements and briefing material - and setting-up media interviews.
  5. Stakeholder engagement experience.
  6. Experience of successfully organising media and corporate events.
  7. Experience of monitoring and evaluation the outcome of campaigns.
  8. Social media experience within a business environment.
  9. Video production experience.
  10. Experience in crisis and issues management.
  11. Experience of managing agency contracts.
  12. Previous experience of uploading content onto digital channels and using CMS programmes.
  13. Computer packages including Microsoft office suite.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS /
  1. University Degree in communications or similar discipline.
  2. Minimum of two years’ experience

OTHER ATTRIBUTES /
  1. Flexible and willing to work irregular hours and weekends when necessary.
  2. Willing and able to take part in the out-of-ours Press Office on-call rota.
  3. Willing and able to work away from time to time, to spend nights away and travel in the UK or overseas.
  4. Confident speaker or willing to develop skills.
  5. Full and clean UK/EU driving licence.
  6. Previous 5 year checkable history (e.g. work, study, unemployment, home worker).
