HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD

CASE # 1423- It is proposed to paint the exterior, replace existing signs, and add a new sign at 531 Main St. OWNER: Buxmont Academy

The HARB upon motion by Mr. Benner and seconded by Mrs. Shelly adopted the proposal that City Council issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the proposed work described herein:

  1. The proposal to paint the exterior, replace existing signs, and add a new sign at 531 Main St. was presented by Angela di Felice and Margie Kelly.
  1. The following paint colors are approved for the front of the building:
  1. “A New Grey” Building Body
  2. “Brainstorm Bronze” Below the first floor windows
  3. “Brainstorm Bronze” Entry part of building (1st and 2nd levels)
  1. The proposed Fine Wine and Jubilee colors are not approved for the façade at this time. The applicant may return to the HARB after painting is complete to discuss the addition of a stripe of color if they think it is still necessary.
  1. Two projecting, double sided signs will be installed in the existing metal frame located on the building façade. The signs will have the same off-white background color and borders that are the same width. The border on the upper sign is to be red with a pinstripe of gray as proposed. The border on the lower sign is to be blue with a pinstripe of black or one of the blue colors. The colors of the upper sign will be pantone warm gray, pantone 200 U red, and black. The colors of the lower sign will be PMS 646 (lighter blue) and PMS Reflex Blue (darker blue).
  1. The upper sign will be 40” wide x 19” high. The lower sign will be 40” wide x 15” high. Both signs will be 1-1/2” thick and fabricated of a smooth (not wood grained) sign makers’ foam such as high density urethane.
  1. The fonts for the upper sign will be changed to be all serif style. The fonts on the lower sign will be the serif style as shown in the rendering.
  1. The main entrance sign will be approximately 137” wide x 26” high. The exact size of the sign will be altered, if necessary, to have 8” of building façade visible on the top, bottom, and both sides as discussed in the meeting.
  1. The colors of the sign will match the upper projecting sign. All lettering will be serif style, and the sign will be fabricated of the same smooth sign material.

1.  The proposed work was approved with a unanimous vote.
