Salary: £17k basic with OTE £21k

Location: Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, Wales.

Overall responsibilities

Global Action Plan is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic recruitment officer to play a key role in spreading our EcoTeams model throughout communities using the Centre for Alternative Technology’s visitor base. EcoTeams is Global Action Plan’s flagship programme, enabling and empowering thousands of householders in groups to reduce their environmental impact through personal behaviour change. The overall aim of the role is to recruit “Community Diffusion Leaders” from visitors to the Centre for Alternative Technology, and motivate them to go out and recruit participants to the EcoTeams programme in their own communities. They will also provide remote support to Leaders in moving through the EcoTeams process at key stages. The role will involve working onsite at the Centre for Alternative Technology, whilst being responsible for recruitment targets to the Senior EcoTeams Manager at Global Action Plan.

Specific responsibilities

1.  Develop communications with CAT to encourage visitors to participate in short EcoTeams workshops whilst visiting CAT.

2.  Run multiple training and recruitment workshops on site at CAT for visitors on a daily basis with an aim to recruiting and motivating “Community Diffusion Leaders” to diffuse EcoTeams within their own communities.

3.  Follow up “Community Diffusion Leaders” at key points to encourage and support them in recruiting to EcoTeams and move through the process.

4.  Act as a support hub for “Community Diffusion Leaders” once they’ve returned to their communities and are recruiting and motivating EcoTeams within their own community.

5.  Report on recruitment and EcoTeams completion targets to Senior EcoTeams Manager, and enact risk management plans if targets are not being met.

Knowledge / A good undergraduate and preferably post graduate degree in a relevant area (e.g. Sustainable Development, Volunteer Management, Environmental Psychology). / Essential
