On Saturday March 1, 2014 Desert Vista Lacrosse, Inc. will proudly host
Lax Vegas!, a fundraising event where 150 guests will enjoy a fun night of dining, gambling and silent auction bidding. The proceeds from this incredible evening will benefit Desert Vista Lacrosse Clubs.
With a history that spans centuries, lacrosse is the oldest sport in North America. Rooted in Native American religion, lacrosse was often played to resolve conflicts, heal the sick, and develop strong, virile men. To Native Americans, lacrosse is still referred to as “The Creator's Game.” Today, lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States. No sport has grown faster at the high school level over the last 10 years, and there are now an estimated200,000 high school players. Lacrosse is also the fastest-growing sport over the last six years at the NCAA level.
“Honor the Game”, a common slogan in the lacrosse world, carries over into the life lessons our players are learning through this great sport. As parents and members of the Phoenix community, we clearly see the positive impact organized sports have on our young athletes. Unfortunately, lacrosse is an unsubsidized club sport, and we rely heavily on fundraising efforts to keep the registration fee affordable and the sport available to all. Donations help us cover association fees, field rental fees, coaching stipends, equipment costs, and more.
As a business with an important presence in our community, it is our hope that you will partner with Desert Vista Lacrosse, Inc. and support this year’s event by donating an item or gift card for our silent auction.
