LOCATION: Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, 807 High Road, Tottenham, N17 8ER
SALARY: £200 per day, 8 hours working day
HOURS: 2 days a week
CONTRACT: Fixed term for 24 weeks
DEADLINE: 3 weeks after senior management approval and sign off

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation (THF) mission is to create opportunities that change the lives of those living in the local communities and around the world.
Percy House is a grade II* listed building #1079242, addressed at 796 High Road, Tottenham, N17 0DH. It is recognised as being of high heritage significance and national importance. It will house the Foundation to become a hub for enterprise, skills and training, creating sustainable, long-term education and employment opportunities for local people.
The Percy House Heritage Project is funded by the Heritage Lottery. It aims to engage the community in its heritage values and significances as supported by the Haringey Council and Historic England.
After a series feedback sessions with the community, the Foundation is going to follow up some of the recommendations to develop the programme further. We are looking to commission a historical researcher to enrich the project via these channels:
1. An English Heritage Blue plague scheme.
2. An interpretation of the Percy House’s occupants.
3. A Heritage Ambassador programme.
4. An interpretation of the 10 years of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
5. A formal and informal historical workshops for Percy House.
6. A publication illustrating the history of Percy House.

JOB PURPOSE
To research, analyse, interpret, and present the past by studying a variety of historical documents and sources relevant the Percy House Heritage Project and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation (THF).
The Percy House Heritage Project is funded by the Heritage Lottery. It aims to engage the community in its heritage through various plans such as the English Heritage Blue plague scheme, Percy House interpretation, the Heritage Ambassador programme, oral history project, formal and informal education programme and publication project.

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Gather historical data from various sources, including archives, books, and artifacts.
b) Analyze and interpret historical information to determine its authenticity and significance.
c) Trace historical developments of the Percy House and the THF.
d) Engage with the public through educational programs and presentations about the history of Percy House and THF.
e) Archive or preserve materials and artifacts from the Percy House THF.
f) Provide advice or guidance on historical topics and preservation issues.
g) Write reports, articles, and books on findings and theories of Percy House and THF.

· Investigation skills to find out a past idea, event, or person; decipher historical information; or identify how the past has affected the present.

· Examine and process information from a large number of historical documents, texts, and other sources.
d) Analytical skills
· Examine the information and data in historical sources and draw logical conclusions from them, whether the sources are written documents, visual images, or material artifacts.
e) ICT skills
· Proficient at using Microsoft office packages, emails and the internet.
4.EDUCATION
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in history, English literature, conservation, archive management, archeology, journalism, museum and heritage studies, education or publishing.
5.EXPERIENCE
a) Experience within the historical research field in either voluntary or employed position.
b) Practical experience in field assisting projects such as heritage, archeology, collections, education or exhibition interpretation.
c) Experience working with government, institutional records, newspapers, photographs, interviews, films, and unpublished manuscripts (such as personal diaries and letters).
d) Experience processing, cataloging, and archiving documents and artifacts.
e) Experience presenting and interpreting history in order to shape or build upon public knowledge of past events.
f) Experience with tracing and building a historical profile of a particular building, person, area, idea, organization, or event.
g) Experience with taking a research project to completion.
h) Experience with presenting research findings through articles, books, reports, exhibits, websites or educational programs.
i) Experience with providing historical context for projects.
j) Experience with writing about the history of a particular government agency, activity, program or institution.
k) Experience working with a diverse groups of people such as historical associations, schools, curators, archivists, publishers, researchers, archeologists, architects and community based groups.
