JOB TITLE: Registered - Unit Manager

HOURS OF WORK: 37½ hour per week

ACCOUNTABLE TO: CEO

REPORTS TO: CEO/HR

1. JOB PURPOSE & OBJECTIVIES

1.1  To be responsible for the management of staff and clients in the unit.

1.2  To be responsible for the knowledge and implementation of Care Quality Commission essential standards of quality and safety within the unit.

1.3  To be responsible for all Health & Safety matters at the home which includes the clients; the building;

the staff and to complete all documentation to ensure compliance in all areas under the jurisdiction of the manager.

1.4  To be a registered care manager with CQC.

2. ROLE

2.1  To maintain good communication with clients and staff on daily operational matters within the unit by using the communication book and other suitable forms of good communication.

2.2  Ensure that the unit is fully staffed and maintain a monthly rota ahead of time for staff.

2.3  Provide one to one support to clients and work as a team to identify assess and respond to the physical, psychological, educational, emotional and social needs of the clients in the unit; oversee that all staff work to this aim.

2.4  Ensure the health & safety checks are carried out accurately, timely and all matters needing attention are reported to the appropriate person i.e. Landlord, head office, CEO, HR.

2.5  Ensuring that all client case notes are entered accurately and in a timely manner by support workers/self on a day by day or incident by incident method.

2.6  Assessing new referrals with relevant referral agencies either by visiting new clients or as led by the referring agencies.

2.7  Assigning keyworkers for new clients and raising appropriate documents for care plans, risk assessments etc.

2.8  To inform CEO/HR of staffing matters that could potentially bring the company into disrepute.

2.9  Leading and arranging the staff meetings to ensure that all staffing matters are heard by you for effective management.

2.10  Arrange and supervise all internal rota’s which include: client and staff shopping; appointments for service users; cleaning of the property etc.

2.11  Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment.

2.12  Ensure that petty cash receipts and money is kept safely and managed by yourself with an oversight of the staff carrying out these monitory duties.

2.13  Use and check daily the handover book for staffing matters.

2.14  Ensure that supervisions with staff take place between a 6 – 8 weeks duration to keep good communication and identify any potential work place/personal issues.

2.15  Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals in the unit.

2.16  Monitor, evaluate and assess as required any reports as requested by the CEO or HR at Servol.

2.17  To be open and amenable to undertake other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of the developing role of manager within Servol.

2.18  Reflect and develop your practice.

2.19  Undertake any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role.

EXPERIENCE / Experience of dealing with complex issues that a diverse and vulnerable group of service users faces from the community.
A grasp of Health & Safety legislation.
A working knowledge of CQC ‘Essentials of Quality & Safety’.
Experience of partnership working. / Experience with a similar project within a charity sector
Attended an HSE course or similar to basic or intermediate level.
To have worked through ‘measures’ from CQC in a unit.
