Objectives

After 10 years of working on or around yachts and the leisure industry, I am looking now for a new position where I can sharpen my skills and widen my experiences. My goal is to enter a new phase in my career that challenges me and pushes me to develop further as a Large Yacht Captain.

Sailing Experience

2004 May – present: (Currently employed for 6th year for same Employer, 2 different yachts.)

Captain – Engineer. M/Y Forli. 23m Ferretti 760

  • Captain of busy private motoryacht, and then following the sale of this yacht in October 2005 I stayed with the owner to become Captain of the new 881 in 2006.
  • Based outside Europe in Turkey cruising Aegean and Mediterranean coast, Ionian and Croatia.
  • Close relationship with shipyard built over 6 years, in depth knowledge of Warranty process.
  • Liason with owner and shipyards for specification and ordering of new yacht.
  • Management of 4 crew.

November 2009 – December 2009:

Delivery Mate. M/Y Silver Dream 42m Warren yachts

  • Mate for delivery from Turkey to Maldives via Salalah.

2003 Feb– 2004 May:

Captain / Engineer. M/Y Baloo. 23 metre Ferretti 760

  • Captain and chef/stewardess team with partner.
  • Busy cruising schedule covering 5000NM in one season, travelling France/Balearics/Greek Islands and Turkey
  • Responsible for warranty process of new yacht – dealing with dealers / service in 4 different countries.

2002: Mate. 69´ German Yacht Sloop, Cape Cross.

  • Delivery from Croatia to Palma, Mallorca.
  • Whilst in Palma I helped out with all the refit preparations and maintenance work onboard.

2002: Deck hand. Swan 60. Little Britain Cup.

  • Race crew for industry racing challenge with corporate guests onboard.
  • Providing safe and fun racing and guest entertainment.

2002: Crew. Professional Yacht deliveries world-wide.

  • Delivery of Malo 36 from Kinsale, Ireland, to Poole UK.
  • Safe navigation and maintenance of privately owned vessel.

2000: Buné Club, Cap d’Agde France. Watersports and Beach Assistant.

  • Assisting with daily working of a busy beach business.
  • Providing a high level of service to a large number of long-term clients.
  • Jet bike and Catamaran tuition
  • Paragliding tours from speedboat. Controlling the safe launching and recovery of guests and Parachute.

1998: The Challenge Business. England. Yacht Crew/Mate.

  • Atlantic Crossing from Barbados – Azores – Plymouth in Febuary.
  • 3 ocean passages of around 500 miles as safety boat for Rowing race. Sailing from Barbados
  • Corporate Sailing Charter. Ensuring comfort and safety of guests onboard.
  • Training of corporate guests and future crewmembers in safe and efficient manner.

1997: Ocean Youth Club. Based England. Volunteer sea staff.

  • Atlantic Passage from Azores – France – Portsmouth
  • Active Sail training environment on a working vessel.
  • High standard of safety on board at all times.
  • Up to 12-novice crew between the ages of 16 – 24years old.
  • Refit experience on two different 72’ yachts.

Other Interests

  • Classic Cars – recently I have acquired my first Classic Car and have caught the restoration bug!
  • Forests and birds. When not near boats or the sea I love to walk in the forests near my home, in particular to find Woodpeckers, Raptors and other large birds. I am also attempting to grow several kinds of tree in my own garden.
