Establishment of a Graduate Concentration
M.A. in Philosophy
History and Philosophy of Science
Karin Ellison attended the CAPC meeting and answered questions raised by committee members.
Karin explained the difference between the M.A. and Ph.D. graduate concentrations being proposed, and how courses offered will attract students from other units. Dr. Ellison further explained to the committee that the graduate concentrations will exist within degree programs.
A motion was made to approve this course proposal.
A motion to approve was made, seconded, and approved by unanimous voice vote.

As discussion for this graduate concentration was discussed by Dr. Ellison as it relates to the M.A. graduate concentration, there was a motion to approve.
A motion was made to approve this course proposal.

Establishment of a graduate degree
Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations
After a lengthy discussion regarding concerns relating to the clarity on how admissions for this graduate degree will be handled, the program of study and faculty to teach these courses, a motion was made to table this graduate degree program.
A motion was made to table this proposal pending receipt of additional, requested information.
A motion to table was made, seconded, and approved by unanimous voice vote.

After a brief discussion, there was a motion to conditionally approve, pending receipt of any impact from the Polytechnic campus.

NOTE: Polytechnic informed Nancy Kiernan that there was no objection to this course.
As such, the course has been approved.
