Killultagh Old Rock & Chichester Harriers

Branch of the Pony Club

Dear Member

CAMP: TUESDAY 30th JUNE –FRIDAY4TH JULY 2014

Please find attached a list of essential equipment you will require for your stay at Pony Club camp. This list is not exhaustive, and if you wish to bring any other equipment with you please do so, just remember that space is of a premium in the tack rooms so bear this in mind.

Just a few other reminders in order to make sure camp is a pleasant experience from start to finish:

1. Passports – please remember to bring your pony’s passport with you and show it to me (A member of Committee will be on the gate) before off loading your pony. Ensure it shows up to date vaccinations. No pony will be allowed on the Racecourse grounds without up to date vaccinations. If you are unsure which vaccinations you require please ask us.

2. Deposit for Clean Stables – As in previous years, we will require a deposit of £50.00 (payable by cheque only please). This will not be lodged, but held until your stable has been cleaned out completely on the last day. Failure to clean your stable completely will result in the deposit being non refundable.

3. Name Everything – It is best to have everything named (especially pony club sweatshirts and coats which always get mixed up). Grooming brushes should be marked with a permanent marker.

4. Pony Club – Ties, badges, sweatshirts and coats are available to buy. Please contact Elaine Good.

5. Mobile Phones - Please note mobile phones will not be allowed during riding or stable management. In order to keep your mobiles safe, please mark your phone with your name and give to your instructor prior to morning rides. No allowance will be made to this rule.

6. Parents’ Assistance- In order to make camp a success, I am sure you will all realise it is essential that all parents help out – day and night! We will compile a rota to assist with this so please give some thought to your availability throughout the week. Thank you. Ensure that you have completed the forms from Access NI for parents staying over.

7. Briefing - There will be a parents briefing on Tuesday evening while the members are enjoying their first lesson. Parents are invited to enjoy a small supper while the briefing takes place. Its important that at least one parent from each family attend this as you’ll be made familiar with Race Course rules and some Health & Safety issues to help camp run smoothly. Approximately 7.15-8.00pm. More details will follow.

Kind regards

Mandy

Ponies will be fed in the morning by the older children in the red or blue rides. Parents should ensure any feed and haynets are made up every evening and clearly marked so ponies can be appropriately fed.

Mucking out will be done by the child (with parents help) on arrival at camp, before lunch. The tack and turnout will be done in the afternoon prior to their first ride.

If you have any queries in relation to this, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Margaret.
