When You Think No One’s Watching

Malcolm Gladwell is known to be one of the world’s best selling writers. Gladwell’s book, The Tipping Point, is on the best sellers list and has been there for 183 weeks so far. We wonder “Why is that?” The Tipping Point is known to be the life changing moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior tips. What I mean by tips is when the majority begins to follow the trend and next thing you know it becomes something everyone is doing. Throughout the book Gladwell asks “Why is it that some idea or behaviors or products start epidemics and others don’t?” That’s what we are going to find out in the following passage!

The majority of the time someone may do or wear something because they saw someone before them doing or wearing it. Please excuse me if I’m mistaken? About 75% of the time, the person that you might have saw doing or wearing something also saw someone before them doing or wearing it. And the person that the someone before them saw wearing it also saw someone doing or wearing the same thing. If it were an outfit, although it may have looked better on one of those other people others continued to set the trend.

Throughout the years, not only has clothing become a trend however pollution has as well. Manny people in the nation pollute the environment because they may be too lazy to get up and walk towards a distant garbage can, not thinking of what can happen in a few mores if they continue to pollute. The worst part about it is that theirs always someone watching them, or even you as you read this. Their may be also someone watching the person watching you. In general the trend may continue. By doing something different you can make a change, because people often want to have someone to look up to and to teach them new things. By you not throwing your wrapper on the floor today, many may not do it in the day of tomorrow.

Many others may pollute because they are unaware of what is happening to our environment due to this. Some human beings are completely ignorant about pollution. They may think to them selves “What can one person possibly do to make a difference?” The answer should be everything! One person can change everything!
