PRACTICAL APPLICATION

STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS

OBJECTIVE: This practical application is designed to demonstrate your knowledge of Personnel Readiness Management (PRM) in the role of a BDE S-1 Officer.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

1. Pencil/Pen

2. Paper

3. FM 1-0, HR Support

4. HQDA Manning Guidance

INSTRUCTIONS:

a. Demonstrate your knowledge of PRM by preparing an information paper for your Commander.

b. Explain how the PRM system works for your Brigade Commander by writing an information paper using the format provided.

c. You will work as teams and have one hour to complete this application.

NOTE: Suggest class be broken into 4-6 person groups and each group prepare an information paper.

NOTE: If time does not permit, instructor can assign as homework and review the next day in class.

SCENARIO: You are the Brigade S-1 for the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3d Infantry Division, which is scheduled to deploy in six months. The Brigade Commander recently assumed command and was told by the Division CG during his in-brief that he (the Brigade Commander) is responsible for managing pin-point assignments within the Brigade directly from Human Resources Command (HRC). The Brigade Commander has no direct experience in personnel assignments and has asked you to explain how it works. Prepare an information paper for the Brigade Commander on Personnel Readiness Management (PRM), to include the PRM relationships with Personnel Accountability (PA) and Strength Reporting (SR) and Personnel Information Management (PIM) Systems.
