September 14, 2011
Greetings!
We would like to invite you to participate in an exciting new collaborative research program titled:
ICON: Integrated Chiropractic Outcomes Network
A Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN)
Practice-based research networks (PBRNs) partner practitioners and researchers to gather data from real-life practice. Each partner does what they do best: practitioners provide their customary excellent care, and the research team collects and analyzes data to answer important research questions. Data collection is streamlined to avoid intruding into your practice.
ICON is unique in that our goal is not only to enhance the health of the public but to contribute to the evidence base related to health promotion and disease prevention.
The second phase of ICON will be conducted in October 2011. It involves a one-day sample from your practice. This program is modeled on the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey, conducted by the U.S. government with medical and osteopathic physicians. The purpose of this project is to describe prevention and health promotion practices, and to compare them to those of MDs and DOs. We will ask you to complete a 1-page form for each patient on any one day you choose during the week of Oct. 3-7.
If you are interested in participating, or would like more information, please complete the attached form and return it to as soon as possible. We look forward to working with you as partners in this exciting new program!
You may also view the practitioner forms at the ICON forum at ChiroACCESS at: or by clicking on the “Forums” link within the navigation bar at ChiroACCESS ().
