OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
To ensure the integrity of postings (both manual and system generated) to the Bank’s financial ledgers, and to ensure that all inter-company balances and balances with BIS are regularly reconciled and cleared.
Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Control of manual journal postings to the Bank ledgers and the validation of system generated postings to the ledgers, to ensure accuracy of (cost centre, NAC, product, etc.) coding and therefore the integrity of the ledgers.
  • Preparation of manual accruals and prepayments, and posting of journal into ledgers.
  • Load annualised budgets to the Oracle system and effect budget changes as required, ensuring budget to actual reporting remains up to date and aligned.
  • Monthly and quarterly data uploads (actuals and forecasts) onto the EPM system, and liaise with the BIS BICC team to resolve any queries or discrepancies.
  • Intercompany accounting including the reconciliation of intercompany accounts and accounts with BIS and resolution of differences in conjunction with the Operational Accountant and counterparties.
  • Undertaking calculation of cost allocations across BBB companies and prepare monthly journal. Preparing re-charge to BIS ensuring prompt settlement of outstanding balances.
  • Balance sheet and profit and loss reconciliations as delegated by the Operational Accountant.
  • Maintenance of the AR and AP ledgers and liaison with UKSBS on related transactional processing, undertake monthly review of the AP ledger to validate the outstanding balances.
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register and reconciliation to the GL.
  • Monthly MI reporting, including actuals versus budget variance analysis.
  • Dealing with escalated Finance Assistant queries and providing support to the Operational Accountant.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
(Qualifications, skills and competencies required for role)
  • Experienced assistant accountant, Part-qualified (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent) desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of monthly and annual accounts preparation, up to trial balance.
  • Experience of undertaking ledger management and account reconciliations is essential.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Able to prioritise competing demands and willing to contribute to the delivery of objectives of the team as a wholea team.
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to solve problems in creative, practical ways.
  • Collaborative and proactive in building effective relationships.
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty and reliability.
  • Proficient with Excel.
