Volunteer Engagement Co-ordinator

We are seeking an individual to join our team in the full-time position of volunteer engagement co-ordinator.

The Position

This integral role is responsible for providing a wide range of services in support of the volunteer engagement program to continuously engage volunteers in an expanding community that supports the evolving needs of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer the Volunteer Engagement Programs

·  Assist in the building and implementation of a comprehensive volunteer engagement program that provides appropriate volunteer support for major events and Foundation initiatives

·  Actively participate in building and maintaining engaging relationships with volunteers

·  Update and maintain a comprehensive volunteer database using Volgistics; input and keep current related data in Raiser’s Edge

·  Drive the online recruitment of volunteers; document, create, post and maintain active volunteer opportunities and role descriptions for volunteers within Volgistics

·  Co-ordinate and oversee established volunteer outreach programs to ensure the programs consistently meet the Volunteer Engagement metrics

·  Provide front desk coverage, and be the acting office administrator for sick days, vacation &/or leaves of absence

·  Provide administrative support for Foundation Ambassadors and Engagement Programs

Volunteer Training, Support and Recognition

·  Deliver quarterly general volunteer orientation programs that educate and inform volunteers of the Foundation’s volunteer opportunities and initiatives

·  Assist with delivery of event specific orientations

·  Work on-site at major events to provide volunteer support

·  Co-ordinate and support volunteer recognition initiatives that drive volunteer engagement

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·  Excellent interpersonal skills; open, approachable, tactful and politically sensitive. Possesses the ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and situations

·  Proven ability in leading and co-ordinating volunteer activity

·  Expertise with MS Office, Raiser’s Edge and volunteer databases (specifically Volgistics)

·  Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, problem solve and make sound decisions

·  Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends, as required

·  Maintains a valid class 5 driver’s licence and has access to a vehicle

Education & Experience:

·  Post-secondary degree or diploma with a preference for specialization in Volunteer Management, HR or a related field. Equivalent of education and experience will be considered

·  Minimum 2 years working experience working with volunteers

·  Active involvement in the volunteer sector
