Welding Procedures

The following list should be taken as a suggestion, which will help you, work efficiently in a safe, well-organized shop. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your instructor.

SAFETY CONSCIOUSNESS

1.  Because of the possibility of serious accidents, horseplay, in any form will not be tolerated. One violation will lower your current grade by TWO letter grades. Two violations will result in permanent dismissal from the class with NO CREDIT.

2.  ALL STUDENTS MUST WEAR SAFETY PROTECTION AT ALL TIMES.

3.  Students will be provided with their own safety glasses with side shields and welding gloves.

4.  Items of jewelry are not to be worn. Long sleeves are to be worn at all times. Long hair must be contained so that it does not hang loosely in the students face.

5.  Students are not to be in the welding area unless actually setting up an operation or operating a welder

6.  All students will be assigned a clean-up job. When requested to clean up please do so promptly.

7.  All welders are to be turned off when not in use.

8.  Welding is a hazardous occupation; therefore, … any suspected use of drugs and/or alcohol is considered a valid reason for dismissal from the shop. Your social behavior and conduct is your own business, but your physical well-being and the safety of other classmates while you are in this class is the instructors.
