Job Description: PROJECT MANAGER
General Description:
This document is to acts as a guideline for the work duties and procedures for a Project Manager of J.T. Thorpe & Son, Inc. (JTT). The Project Manager (PM) has the responsibility and authority to service the accounts assigned to the PM by the PM’s Regional Manager and. The PM acts as the Company’s liaison to the customer. Every customer, account, and job is different unique and should be treated as such. The Project Manager has the authority and responsibility to complete these projects in the manner necessary towhile meeting the customers’ needs in a safe, professional, efficient, organized, and economic manner. Listed below are basic requirements and skill sets that a Project Manager must fulfill.

REQUIREMENTS (Responsibilities)
· Computer / /Intranet
o Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Professional application software. These include Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, etc.
o Must be capable of using the Intranet
o Must be capable of checking e-mail remotely through the Intranet
· Safety
o Formal safety training and certification (BATC, MSHA, etc.)
o Knowledge of Accident / /Incident reporting procedures
o Ability to apply, monitor, and instruct as necessary project personnel in JTT Safety practices and procedures as necessary
· Account Maintenance and Development
o MPM must interact with customers and manage his accounts such that they accounts are maintained, customers as a well satisfied, and business ongoing account.
o SPM should use contacts and opportunities to develop new JTT business, both within an account and also outside the PM’s existing account base.
o IPM is responsible for to entertaining aAccount base and providinge sales and marketing information within the account.
o WPM will be expected to perform a minimum amount of profitable work each year, once they are fully and independently performing as a Project Manager on their own (within 1-2 years). Expectations for full-functioning Project Managers are approximately $4M of revenue and $1M of profit on projects annually.

o Must provide clear direction to field supervision

· Estimating (The responsibilities listed may require assistance of from a Regional Manager, Labor Coordinator, and or accounting personnel)
o Responsible to makefor making Material Take- offs
o Responsible to determinefor determining equipment requirements
o Responsible to determinefor determining applicable labor rates
o Responsible to makefor making project cost estimates including, labor, material, equipment, freight, taxes, insurance and supervision
o Responsible to determinefor determining crew sizing, skills and working hours
o Responsible to determinefor determining all applicable travel expense (travel time, airfares, rental cars)
o Responsible to determinefor determining subcontractor needs and costs
o Responsible to determinefor determining Overhead and Profit pricing
o Responsible to determine for determining Consumables cost
· Proposals
o Must be able to write clearly and concisely
o Must be able to use Word and other Proposal tools to effectively communicate with potential and existing customers
· Project Management Responsibilities include: the following:
o Correspondence control and organization
o Understanding of basics of project contract
o Setting up the job, including:
§ Material ordersing
§ Equipment lists / /requests
§ Manpower requests
§ Site orientation
§ Deliveries / /off- loading
o Writing or implementing Work Orders, including:
§ Safety systems and standards

§ Installation Procedures as applicable

o Giving direction to craft workers
o Interaction with Client
o Interaction with JTT support staff (Manpower, Warehouse, Safety, Accounting)
o Contract hierarchy and law

o Cost Control (tracking the job while it is going on and projecting final cost early)
o Project reporting to client – frequency and technique
o Project Timekeeping
o Execute Quality Control Plan and follow progress of construction work
o Follow- up reports
o Follow- up evaluation of work
o Invoicing
o Managing invoicing
o Cash collection, including understanding of Lien Law rules
o Giving direction to craft workers

o Know, understand, and meet or exceed your customer’s requirements or desires wants
