English Language Arts
As we continue learning more about writing and language usage, we will listen to stories that have descriptive explanations of characters and color the correct picture that the story is describing. We will also practice making CVC words with the short /e/ vowel. We will review the “en”, “og” and “at” word families on an Easter egg paper and our poem for this week is “White-Tailed Bunny”. Our high frequency words are: them, make, take, give, world, away
Science
We are beginning our study of the basic needs of living things. We will learn what we have to have in order to stay alive and how to know the difference between living and nonliving things. We will plant a carrot top and provide its basic needs to see if it will grow.
Social Studies
We will continue learning many things that go along with spring, Easter, rights and responsibilities. We will learn more about eggs and chicks and the responsibility of taking care of living things. We will create a hatching chick, color a giant Easter egg with chalk and make a bunny visor. We will read stories such as Hatch Egg, Hatch, Clifford’s Happy Easter and Chickens Aren’t the Only Ones.
Math
As we continue our study of addition number sentences, the children will play a card game to show combinations that add up to 5, use jelly beans and dominos to practice number combinations and we will practice telling addition stories. We will learn to use the vocabulary words: plus, is equal to and number sentence. We will also practice writing number sentences.
