Introduction by Brian Reid Interim Medical Director

Dear Colleagues
In the capacity of Interim Medical Director for the Trust, it’s a great pleasure to introduce the March edition of GP Round Up. I have taken over this role from Alistair Flowerdewwho is currently Acting Chief Executive and I will also be continuingwith my clinical practice in Obstetrics during this period.

The GP Round Up email newsletter is sent out to Practice Managers in the local area- please can you forward it on to all your colleagues in your practice or surgery. You can also download the PDF version and pin it to a Staff NoticeBoard if this would help everyone to see it.

GP Direct Access to West Berkshire Specialist Physiotherapy Services

We’re pleased to announce a new Specialist Physiotherapy Service at both the Royal Berkshire Hospital and West Berkshire Community Hospital locations for patients who are registered with a West Berkshire G.P.Patients will be able to benefit from appropriate specialist physiotherapy closer to their home and the this GP direct access service aims to provide assessment, treatment, advice and education for patients with complex or specialised musculo-skeletal or neurological conditions in a hospital-based specialised setting. The clinics start on April 1st and a full list of conditions treated may be found on a separate attachment.

For more information pleasecontact Jill Gillespie-Shahabi Team Lead Therapist Outpatients Tel: 01183227812

Reminder - Please attach referral letter to C&B!

This is a friendly reminder to check that you have attached the clinical letter when submitting C & B referrals. We have had several clinics lately where letters have not been attached and on several occasions the GP had not written one! This is causing extra work for our administrative staff and also means that referral information cannot be scanned into the electronic patient record. Thank you for your help.
