LETTER FROM THE EDITOR AND WEBMASTER- DAVID GRAY

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Fall. Much like last year, you are able to purchase your yearly membership in the HOA as well as pay for your boat storage, on our website. As 2016 memberships open starting in January, now is a great time to think about continuing your membership in our HOA. Membership is $20.00 if paid by April 15. Late fee of $5.00 will apply if paid after April 15th. As always, if there is anything you feel should be on our website, have any interesting news items/articles of local interest or you have any comments or feedback, please email me at . In addition, if you would like pictures of your house, once it is safe to re-enter our community, please provide your Mariner's Cove address, and we will reply with pictures of your house. Please note this is via email only.

If there is anything you would like to see in the Beacon, or on the website, please email me at .

***Please note that there will be no Bingo until the end of March. ***

NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT- TIM KAY

Winter is now officially here though with record high temperatures, you would hardly notice. By the time you receive this edition of the Beacon 2015 will have given way to a new 2016 and the promise of a more fruitful year for all of us.

Now is the time to renew your HOA membership and to consider how you might be able to help us make Mariner’s Cove an even better place to live. Nine members serve on the board but the board is not responsible for providing all the activities which are held here each year; the membership is the key to planning and getting things done.We constantly need volunteers to set up, cook, serve, sell tickets, clean up, plan, etc., etc.It seems that when a function takes place the same faces are there to lend a hand and we deeply appreciate that help. However people get tired and when enough get tired, we need new faces to help out. If you have never volunteered 2016 might be a good time to start. It’s also a great way to meet new people and make new friends. If you have never belonged to the HOA or have not rejoined in years this is the perfect time to do so.

Just ONE benefit of belonging (boat towing) is worth over $200 for your $20 membership fee. Additionally, should we ever have to go to arbitration because of an ELS violation of the rent justification act, we can only represent current members of the HOA. For this reason alone you should be a member. General membership meetings are held at least five times a year. The average attendance is 18 and, again, the same old faces. Without YOU the HOA cannot function.

We often get complaints that someone was not aware of a meeting or a function. All notices of functions are listed in the Beacon, posted at the Clubhouse and at the mailboxes, listed on the board at Joanne and Pine and posted on facebook in Cove Buddies. You can also obtain information at our website: I hope to see more of you at our functions and wish all of you a healthy and prosperous 2016!

NOTES FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT- DENNIS BETZ

Hi Everyone!! Hope that the summer has been good for all. The picnic was a huge success. We had elections of officers and I think we will be ok with a new board. We’re losing a good man, Mike Gray, he will be missed greatly. We thank him for all the hard work and time he has devoted to the HOA and DMHOA.

Well fall is here and we all know what that means, winter is just around the corner. We need to keep our fingers crossed that it’s not as bad as the last 2 winters. Now is the time to get our homes ready for the cold season. Make sure gutters are clean, repair any leaky roofs or broken windows. Make sure your pipes are ready for the cold. Last year the community had a lot of broken or frozen pipes.

Just a reminder, our website has a list of contractors who know how to answer questions you may have. Also don’t forget to get your boat winterized. Thank you for supporting our functions. If anyone has ideas for next year, please feel free to contact someone on the board.

Stay warm and safe this fall!

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH- DEBBIE COVERDALE

A big THANK YOU to all the members of the Community Neighborhood Watch team.Seeing the vehicles with the placards, traveling along each street, lets us rest easierknowing our streets are patrolled. We appreciate your commitment during 2015to this important Community position.

Your friends and Members of the Mariners Cove HOA Board

DMHOA- JIM BAILEY

DMHOA meets monthly on the 4th Monday of the month at Angola Beach and Estates. The meeting is open to all. As a member of our HOA, you are automatically a member of DMHOA.

ACTIVITES- MIKE DEMACRO

I want to start off by thanking Mary MacBride for volunteering to take charge of the pasta party. I heard everyone had a great time and the food was wonderful. As many of you are aware it has been a struggle finding people to assist the HOA with functions that were scheduled in 2015. That is why we are changing the way things will work in 2016. In order to have a scheduled event in 2016 someone must volunteer to head the event. The volunteer does NOT need to be a member of the activities committee.

The volunteer will be responsible for everything pertaining to the event including but not limited to finding additional volunteers to assist, picking up supplies, decoration and clean up. I will work with the volunteer on a budget and assist anywhere possible.

I would like to invite EVERYONE who’s interested in volunteering for an event that has taken place in the

past to a meeting at the clubhouse on January 12th at 7pm. At this meeting we will go over the events of 2015 to see if anyone wants to volunteer for that event in 2016. If no one volunteers for the event, it simply won’t take place. Feel free to bring additional ideas for activities that you would like to see on the calendar in 2016 but also make sure you are ready to volunteer to head the event.

Only you can make 2016 an eventful year at Mariner’s Cove. As it stands right now there are no scheduled events for 2016. Unfortunately, it will stay that way unless members of the association, associate, with the association, by volunteering some of their time to the association. I look forward to seeing you on January 11th and working with you to make 2016 an eventful year.

Boat Yard- ED OLLIS

Thank you to everyone who has or are currently using the onsite watercraft storage lot. This is a great amenity provided to all HOA members. If you are new to Mariners Cove this year, trailer and/or watercraft storage is provided to all HOA members for the nominal fee. This fee covers the grass cutting maintenance. The storage lot is located at the foot of Knoll Way; turn right at the end of Knoll Way and the storage lot entrance is the second right.

For those currently storing trailers and/or watercraft on the lot, please note that both trailers and watercraft are required to have a name on them for HOA identification. Currently, there are trailers and/or watercraft in the lot with no names. We need to have this corrected by June 30th. After that date, any trailer or watercraft that is not identified will be removed from the lot.

As a reminder, below are the rules for trailer and/or watercraft storage.

(1)Residents wishing to store trailers and/or watercraft must first be an HOA member in good standing.

(2) There is limited space in the storage lot. Consequently, storage is on a first come first served basis.

(3)The annual fee for using the storage facility covers the grass cutting maintenance. This fee is in addition to your HOA fees and can be paid with your annual HOA dues or paid separately. Dues and fees are paid to Alan Wentworth/MCHOA 35474 Pine Drive Millsboro, DE 19966 or you may also pay online through our Mariners Cove’s website @ . There is a $1.00 service charge for online payment.

(4)Once both the HOA and storage fees have been paid, a list of the members will be provided to Ed Ollis who manages the storage facility.

(5)Residents wishing to utilize the storage lot must FIRST contact Ed Ollis (see phone number on first page of Beacon) BEFORE placing either a trailer or watercraft on the lot. This is to assure that all storage members are HOA members and that all fees are current. If everything is in order, Ed will direct you where to place your trailer and/or watercraft and Ed will assign the trailer and/or watercraft a lot number.

(6)All trailers and/or watercraft MUST be labeled with the resident’s name.
Any trailer and/or watercraft that does not contain identification and a lot number will be removed.

(7)Due to the size of the storage lot, no permanent spaces are assigned since it may be necessary to move trailers and/or watercraft around in the lot during its storage. This is necessary from time to time to allow for grass cutting maintenance or to allow another resident access to their trailer or watercraft.

Thank you again for utilizing the storage lot and for being attentive to the storage rules.
