SATURDAY/SUNDAY BACKPACKING PACKING LIST

This list is provided as your required gear list for the overnight backpacking trip. Items in blue might be items you need to purchase before the trip. Special instructions are highlighted in red (so please print in color if possible).

Place a check mark in each q when you have completed/packed each item.

** READ THIS PAGE – IT’S PART OF THE PACKING LIST **

q TO BEGIN: Get out your backpack and line the inside with a large plastic trash bag. Line the inside of the pockets of the pack with smaller bags too. All your gear goes inside these bags. This ensures that in the event that your pack becomes rain soaked, your gear and dry clothes stay dry.

q NEXT: Get all the stuff on this overnight packing list (pages 2-3) layed-out either on the floor or table and placed items into the appropriate bags before you begin packing your backpack. The gear list below tells you what items to place in special bags. Check off the items as you assemble them.

q FINALLY: Pack your pack with heavier items on top and lighter items down the bottom as seen in this example picture from the REI Web site (note: you won’t have an Ice Ax). So for example, the sleeping pad or bag wrapped in plastic will be carried on the very bottom. NOTE: No tent or pad for this trip!
