Dr. David Towle Set to Retire – Dr. David Towle, Executive Director of Adena’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program, will officially retire on June 30, 2016. Dr. Towle has been highly instrumental in helping Adena to establish a robust GME program. Many residents have said the reason they selected Adena was based on their first interaction/conversation with Dr. Towle. With his retirement, Dr. Towle wraps up an impressive 41-year teaching career, and has undoubtedly made a positive impact on the lives of many of his students and colleagues. In addition, you may have read in the Adena Monitor, Dr. Towle was recently awarded the 2016 Ohio Osteopathic Foundation’s Osteopathic Sprit Award, and the 2016 Ohio Osteopathic Association’s Mentor of the Year Award.

From the desk of Dr. Coats:

· I want to reiterate the importance of the Meaningful Use measure as it pertains to eRX eligibility. Please keep this in mind as you complete your “E” jelly beans. I think we would all agree that if there were $500,000 on the table, we would do about anything to claim it. Really appreciate that extra time and “click” if you will.

· As it pertains to outside labs, please remember that our Lab Director has direct oversight of who we use. If you are approached by an outside Vendor, we would ask that they be directed to our Lab Director, Bill Pierce. Bill can be contacted at or 740-779-7650.

· There are current gaps in completion of the Med. Rec. process within Meditech. Pharmacy hopes to be fully staffed in June. We apologize for the inconvenience.

· EPCS allows electronic prescribing of controlled substances. Included is a screen shot of the App as it will appear on your mobile phone. This will be available to all Providers with education forthcoming.I do believe this to be the wave of the future as the state of New York no longer allows paper scripts.CLPP team is hopeful that this will increase our rate of e-scribing so that we can meet Meaningful Use metrics, which have dollars attached.

· The CMO’s are still seeing gaps in appropriate Provider to Provider handoffs, and a lack of verbal conversations. The best way to have clear transitions and communication in care are to treat our patients AND each other as if we were family. I truly believe it is that simple.

· Please inform the Medical Records office of any leaves or vacations you have planned. This will ensure time away does not count against you as deficient charts build. Also, if you experience difficulties signing your records for similar reasons, please report these issues to IT.

Reminder - Provider Portal

As a way to further communication between providers, we are happy to announce that a new webpage is available for Adena providers on Adena.org. The page is intended to help our providers stay up-to-date with the latest news and events going on at Adena. The portal will also be a source for important links and documents. You can access the Provider Portal page at www.adena.org/physicianportal. This portal will soon hold provider events, news, and these CMO weekly updates under the “Resource” section.
