MEDIA RELEASE

Carols are coming to town

City of Melton residents are in for a fabulous evening of festive entertainment at this year's Carols by Candlelight event, to be held on 2 December.

The free event at Hannah Watts Park commences at 6.30pm with community performances that feature local primary schools, choirs and musicians.

From 7.30pm, flame-free candles will light up the park as professional performers encourage everyone to join in singing traditional and much-lovedChristmas carols and songs.

Children’s entertainers The Mik Maks will be wowing the younger audience members, while Santa’s craft village, and the face painting will keep all children entertained.

And of course, Santa himself will be coming along to join in the fun.

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Bob Turner, said the Carols by Candlelight was a highlight of the Council events calendar.

“It’s fantastic to see the community coming together for a night of singing, laughter and happiness,” Cr Turner said.

“Christmas is the perfect time to reflect on the past year, and how lucky we are to be living in the City of Melton.

“Carols by Candlelight will have something for everyone; it’s an event not to be missed.”

Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and basket, however food vans including Salt and Pepa Food Truck, Sweet Forbidden Journey, Spud Bros Spiral Spuds, Pizza To U, Mr Quick Whip, and Jeepsy Coffee will be on site with food available for purchase, as well as a Rotary Club sausage sizzle.

In the event of severe wet weather, Carols by Candlelight will be cancelled. Notification of any cancellation will be posted on Council’s website and Facebook page the morning of the event.
