F.M. Black and 7th Grade Professional Learning Community Expectations

Panther Parents, Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at Frank Black Middle School. This will be a very successful year if we establish an ongoing relationship with each other to support the growth of your student. We invite you to contact us constantly to hold us as well as your student accountable for success. There are some amazing things happening at Frank Black, and we are excited to serve in any manner possible so that you feel connected with us, a Panther Family.

In addition to the values of the school, seventh grade will have specific expectations and values that will be nurtured into a rich content.

  • Seek (Students must want to learn and SEEK it)
  • Engage (Student must be motivated and ENGAGED in being successful)
  • Value (Students must know the VALUE of what they are learning)
  • Every Day (Students must stay consistent and try EVERY DAY)
  • Never Give Up (Students should NEVER GIVE UP on their goals)
  • Teach (Students must give back by TEACHING others)
  • Honor (Students must HONOR what and who is doing good)

These values will stay with the students for a lifetime if our partnership is rooted in them.

Grading Policy

The grading policy will be split into to four percentage areas:

Tests:30%
Quizzes: 25%
Class Work: 35%
Homework: 10%

A progress report will be sent home in the middle of each six-week grading period with a final report card every six-weeks.

You will be able to follow your students’ grades and attendance on GradeSpeed.

Late Work/Make-up Work

If a student is not present in the classroom due to illness or any other reason, the student will have the opportunity to make up the work. The work will be due the number of days the student is absent. The student is responsible for picking up the work. If the student does not turn an assignment when it is due, he or she will have the opportunity to turn it in the next day with a 10% deduction. For every day the assignment is late, it will be a 10% deduction until a “0” is received.
