Dear Parents and Students;
This summer Northwest Ballet Academy is offering two exciting programs for dancers 3 and up. NBA’s Summer Dance Camp offers young children(Creative, Pre-Ballet & Ballet I-III levels ages 3-8yrs) and NBA’s Summer Intensive(Intermediate and Advanced levels 9-18yrs) the opportunity to immerse themselves in dance and an unforgettable experience and to also perform in ‘An Evening of Classical Ballet’ , Saturday, August 5st at 7:30pm. Both Summer Dance and Summer Intensive students are invited to be in the performance by taking at least two of the 4 week course. This summer we are also adding a Friday schedule for students in the Accelerated Training Program(ATP) (see last page), that has been designed for students wishing to advance their skills through private coaching sessions and who also might like to compete in the Youth America Grand Prix Competition held each year in Seattle/Bellevue.
The Summer Dance Camp for Creative, Pre-Ballet and Ballet I-II students will run July 10 to August 4 and be conducted Monday at the Bellingham Studio(1417 Cornwall Ave.) and Tuesdays at the Lynden Studio, 321 Front Street. (See schedule and Waiver)
The Summer Intensive for Intermediate and Advanced students will run July 10 to August 4 and be conducted at the Bellingham studio,( 1417 Cornwall Avenue) only Monday through Thursdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm. (See schedule and Waiver).
The summer program’s goal is to give participating students an extraordinary dance experience that will focus on building strong technique and fostering a love of dance. We hope that you and your child will see the value of this program and dance with us this summer. Please help us by making other parents and students aware of what we are offering at an extremely affordable price compared to other in and out-of state summer programs.
Our website offers more information about our Summer Program at www.northwestballet.org.

NBA Accelerated Training Program
Directed by John Bishop
As part of Northwest Ballet Academy’s Accelerated Training Program (ATP) students will have the opportunity to expand their training options in the classical and contemporary styles of dance. In order to build from a strong technical foundation, the ATP is reserved for students enrolled in NBA’s regular ballet program. They will have the opportunity to progress through the levels at a developmentally appropriate pace while being a part of a program designed to achieve a common goal to enhance technical training as well as the artistic aspects of dance.
Additional training opportunities are available as well, including competition experiences such as the world-renown Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP, www.yagp.org) held each year. Each level will have specific requirements that must be met in order to participate in the program. In addition to their designated ballet program, ATP students will have access to monthly coaching sessions with the choreographer who will set aside times to learn classical and/or contemporary solos or ensemble pieces that are compatible with the competition that they may wish to enter.
This is the first year of deciding this program after the participation of four NBA students in the YAGP Semi-Final competition in Bellevue, Washington (January 6-7). Three of the four girls in the Junior Division level scored in the high 80’s(scale of 100) and one scored in the mid 90’s to make the Top 12 list out of 130 competitors. It was a positive and exciting experience for them and gave them more confidence in their talent and potential for similar success in the future.
Program Requirements
We strongly believe that in order for a dance student to feel successful in a program with accelerated requirements, they must be technically and developmentally ready for that program. To that end, we have set up guidelines for eligibility and participation in the program.
