Reports to:Print Design Lead

Purpose of job

To provide an inspired in-house design service across allRNIB group’s print and digital design.

Impact:

No direct reports.

Financial responsibility:

Decision making responsibility:

Need to show enthusiasm and creativity to inspire in-house clients. Refers to line manager for creative direction.

Main accountabilities:

- To develop creative and on brand accessibleconcepts and

designs across a wide range of touch points and digital

design with the support of the wider design team.

- Present design ideas to Mid-weight designer and Design

Leads.

- Participate in creative brainstorms, quarterly creative reviews

and keepfinger-on-the-pulse with regards to trends and

competition to help the creative services team deliver work

that is up-to-date and has stand-out.

- Develop good relationships with internal clients and the rest of

the creative services team.

- Help manage quality control across all internal and externally

produced print and digital design anddeliver accessible

designs to brief.

- Take responsibility for developing and learn from Mid-weight

and Design leads.

- Proofown artwork, prepare for print andcheck printers

proofs in liaison with creative project managers.

- Work to deadlines and manage own workload.

- Maintain archives of all design work created in-house and

externally, ensuring these are up-to-date and ordered in a

structured manner.

- Take and active interest in photography and help develop the

photo library together with the wider design team.

- Keep up to date with trends and developments.

- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.

- Adhere to all RNIB policies and procedures.

Person specification

All criteria are essential unless otherwise stated

Specialist knowledge, skills and experience

- Recognised qualification in graphic design and ideally

some experience of working as adesigner.

- Experience of producing innovative designs andinterpreting

design briefs.

- Good working knowledge of the following software packages:

Ps, Ai, Id.

- Experience of interpreting and working to branding guidelines

would be an advantage.

- A good understanding of accessibility would be an advantage.

- Knowledge of printing techniques and print legibility.

- Ability to check artwork and colour proofs.

- A willingness to take direction, learn and develop.

Team working skills

- Ability to build effective relationships with key internal and

external stakeholders.

Planning and organisational skills

- Ability to work to deadlines and on multiple projects.

- Ability to work on own initiative, including managing own

workload and as part of a team.

- Ability to keep accurate records and maintain effective filing

systems.

Problem-solving and creative skills

- Ability to identify solutions to problems and to use initiative

within own area of work.

Communication skills

- Ability to communicate in a clear manner both verbally and in

writing.

- Ability to inspire through design.
