About Dennis Debbaudt

Dennis Debbaudt is the proud father of Brad, a young man who has autism. A professional investigator and law enforcement trainer, Dennis has authored or co-authored over 30 articles and books since 1993 including Autism, Advocates and Law Enforcement Professionals: Recognizing and Reducing Risk Situations for People with Autism Spectrum Disorders, articles for the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin (April, 2001), and many other law enforcement and autism publications.
Debbaudt Legacy Productions' training video, Autism & Law Enforcement Roll Call Briefing Video is in use by the Department of Homeland Security, Pennsylvania State Police, Portland, Cincinnati, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Houston, Toledo, Virginia Beach Police Departments, and the MTA New York City Transit police among hundreds of agencies. Debbaudt Legacy Productions produced an Autism & Law Enforcement video and trainers guide for the sole use of the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Since 1995, Dennis has presented his multi-media training for the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Illinois Attorney General, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's Team ADAM, Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police conference, Fire Safety Educators of the Rockies Conference Project Lifesaver International, Cincinnati Training Academy, NYPD Training Academy, Houston Police Academy, New Hampshire, Toledo Police Academy, St. Louis County Police Academy, Iceland 112 and in training rooms throughout North America and the United Kingdom.
He has also presented at conferences sponsored by the Autism Society of America and its chapter organizations, Autism Network International, National Autism Association, Organization for Autism Research, Autism One, Autism Ontario, Autism Yukon, MAAP Services, Grand Valley State University, Florida Atlantic University's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), Emergency Preparedness and Persons with Disabilities conference at the University of South Florida, Harvard University, SouthWest Autism Network Center for Development and Disability at University of New Mexico, Arc of New Mexico, Arc of North Carolina, Missouri Department of Mental Health, Penn State National Autism Symposium, Kansas Autism Conference, Autism-Europe (UK), International Association for Healthcare Safety & Security, Disabilities Trust (UK) Autism Research Unit University of Sunderland (UK) and many more.
Dennis has trained with NYPD's Emergency Services Unit, consulted and contributed to the Chicago Police Department's autism training block, is a cited Autism & Emergency Preparedness Subject Matter Resource at the Department of Homeland Security web site Lessons Learned Information Sharing, has consulted to ABC News 20/20 for a segment on autism and false confession, and is an advisor to the Autism Society of America, MAAP Services for Autism and Asperger Spectrum, the National Autism Association and Project Lifesaver International. He is a Constituency Board member for Florida Atlantic University's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities. Dennis was recently featured in a New York Times report on autism and law enforcement and is a member of the International Law Enforcement Trainers and Educators Association.
Dennis resides in Port Saint Lucie, Florida with his wife, Gay, and son, Brad.
