Sustainable Development:Sharing Wisdom from Thailand
The University of The Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTTC) invites you on October 25th at 14:00 pm to attend an exchange of ideas, a dialogue on sustainable development, followed by a Thai buffet at Asia House, Indiakaj 16, Copenhagen. Please join us.One Thai expert and two Danish professionals will converse on specific cases of Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) related issues, carried out in Thailand under inspiration from Buddhism and the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy.
The speakers are:
- Mr. KulvechJanvatanavit, a Sustainability and Climate Change Advisor widely recognized in Thailand, who will introduce two specific projects(‘Doi Tung’ and ‘One Rai One San’) based on the Sufficiency Economy philosophy, a Thai Sustainable Development initiative and way of living which is now more than three decades old. This philosophy is based on the Buddhism, which centers on moderate ways and consequence, with due regard for sufficiency, sensibility, and immunity strengthened by oneself.
- Mrs. HelleMunkRavnborg, senior researcher at DIIS (Danish Institute of International Studies) and chairwoman of ActionAid Denmark (MellemfolkeligtSamvirke), who will speak about meeting needs, ensuring rights and tempering greed in a globalised world.
- Mrs. LotteIsager, a Danish anthropologist and geographer from the University of Copenhagen, who will speak about the global relevance of Thailand’s Sufficiency Economy.
After the panel dialogue, a Thai buffet will be served. It will include rice from the ‘One Rai One San’ project, one of the two projects presented at the event. Attendees will be able to visit a short exhibition about these projects at the Asia Hall, where we hope that the dialogue will continue in a less formal manner.
