Position:Informatics Nurse

Team / Reports To:Chief Operations Officer

Description and responsibilities

The individual in this position will work collaboratively with users of the Electronic Medical Record System (EMR), responsible for the coordination of planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of custom queries and scripts for Suncoast (EMR) as well as ongoing training of the EMR system. This includes maintaining in-depth knowledge of the Suncoast software along with up-to-date knowledge of the organization’s policies, procedures and business operations as it relates to the use of this system. The individual may also work with other office and medical applications.

Duties include:

1)Software configuration, analyses of business operations, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with the use of the EMR

2)Extensive knowledge and understanding of the supported system, and the organization’s policies, procedures, and business operations

3)Provision of consultative services to users of the EMR

4)Consultative services regarding workflow processes and design of appropriate functionality to maximize the effectiveness of the EMR to the clinicians caring for Hospice and Home Care patients

5)Evaluation of the impact of system change on workflows within the clinical and ancillary departments from clinical, administrative and financial perspectives

6)Assist in the change management process including assistance with the revamping and/or standardization of workflows

7)Extensive work with Care Providers and management personnel to identify issues, analyze data, propose and implement solutions and monitor and track results

8)Perform in-depth analysis of data flow, data collections, report requirements, and other technical issues associated with the use of the system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing supplemented by extensive coursework in computer science or a computer-related field, or equivalent technical training.
  • Clinical Licensure (RN) is required. In-depth knowledge of clinical guidelines/procedures and algorithms in a medical or critical care setting is highly desired.
  • Five or more years of direct patient care experience in a medical/health care environment, Hospice or Home Health Care a plus.
  • Managing and/or coordinating the activities associated with management of systems including table configuration, security design and standards, data linkages, downloads, uploads, naming and numbering conventions; coordinating project-related tasks, including analysis of data flow, data collection, and data requirements
  • 5 years of direct experience with Suncoast or similar healthcare EMR software and training of staff
  • Expertise with PC-based systems operating in a client server environment, iPads, Remote Desktop preferred
