L’Ostello Le Grazie, is sited into a 17th century church in the historical centre of the town , only a few metres from the classrooms.There are 4 rooms (with 3-4 beds) and three spacious bathrooms. L’Ostello possesses a wide area of open space, a kitchen and a dining-hall reserved for the students of the laboratory.Fee for the students of the laboratory : € 80,00 for 9 nights (19th – 26st of August or 28th of August – 4 th September) to be payed in advance before the 15th of July 2008 (not obligatory for non residents in Italy).
Pianist, Umberto FINAZZI, was born and raised in Bergamo, Italy. By the age of eighteen Mr. Finazzi obtained his Diploma of Piano Performance with Distinction from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano. He perfected his concert repertoire in collaboration with Russian pianist K. Bogino and studied conducting with J. Kalmar. For many years he’s been working as a vocal coach, pianist, conductor and choirmaster in Italy’s most important opera theatres. major theatres in Italy. From 1978 to present he’s given over 700 concerts in Italy, France, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Austria, South Africa, Taiwan, China, Korea and USA. He’s performed as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles, in duets, trios, string quartets and quintets as well as in a vast repertoire of opera and lieder. Mr. Finazzi has worked as a conductor and choirmaster in collaboration with artists such as Renata Scotto, Magda Olivero, Luis Alva, Luciana Serra, Denia Mazzola, Andrea Bocelli, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Donato Renzetti, Bruno Giuranna, Dino Asciolla, Pavel Vernikov, Mario Brunello, Joseph Alessi, Antony Pay and Alain Meunier.
He is currenlty a vocal coach and piano-vocal coach instructor at the ‘Accademia di Perfezionamento per Cantanti Lirici del Teatro alla Scala (www.accademialascala.org) as well as at the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. In collaboration with K. Bogino, he teaches advanced musical training in piano in Bergamo and Italian opera masterclasses all over the world.
Pianist, Sabrina TROJSE, was born ina a family of musicians and started to learn piano at the age of 7 under the guide of her mother. She then studied with professor Anna Maria Martinelli. She obtained a diploma of Piano Performance at the Conservatorio Ottorino Respighi in 1993 with distiction. She attended many masterclasses with Gerard Oppitz, Charles Rosen, Alexander Lonquich, Pier Narciso Masi and she won many grants that allowded her to attend the Music Accademy of Pescara and practise with Maestro Sergio Cafaro.
She also studied singing with soprano Donata D’Annunzio Lomabrdi and Scenic Art with Ljla Luri.
She collaborated and still collaborates with artist of international fame such as: Fedora Barbieri, Antonietta Stella, Ghena Dimitrova, Katia Ricciarelli, Ruggero Raimondi, Micaela Carosi, Roberto Aronica, Roberto de Candia, Roberto Scandiuzzi.
She recorded for the Vatican Radio a programme dedicated to the spanish music. She also collaborated with movie directors such as Franco Zeffirelli, Beppe De Tommasi and Patrice Sharon. In 1998 she represented Italy at the International Music Expo of Stoccolm and in 2006 at the Italian Culture Festival in Bahrein. She has been a member of the jury at the International Piano Competiotion in Tirana, Albany and at the Musicarmonia Competition in Rome. This year she collaborated with the Rai television as a consultant and performer of the music for the fiction “Noi Due”.
She plays with the brasilian violinist Daniel Goudes.
Mezzo-Soprano, Luisa MAURO PARTRIDGE, started studying music in Luxembourg and Paris. At the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano, she was awarded the first prize in Opera and Vocal Chamber Music. She perfected her skills in collaboration with M. Alcantara. She specialized in Baroque repertoire with G. Banditelli and C. Ansermet and German Lieder with E. Deutsch and Ch. Ludwig.
She worked with conductors such as G. Neühold, P.Fournillier, Y.David, A. Ceccato, R. Gandolfi, M. De Bernard and M. Laus, in Falstaff, Nabucco, Traviata, I Promessi sposi (Ponchielli), Carmen, M.me Butterfly, Die Zaberflöte, Il matrimonio segreto, Il Re (Giordano) and Les Diables de Loudon (Penderesky). Her repetoire includes six languages which she has performed in numerous international festivals throughout Italy, France, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Malaysia and Korea. In Israel, she sang the title role of Shéhérazade (Ravel) accompanied by the H. Heine Symphonieorchester Düsseldorf. In celebration of the Gershwin Year, she performed a selection of the American composer’s most beautiful songs live on Italian radio, R.A.I. Ms. Mauro-Partridge was subsequently invited by Stéphane Goldet to ‘France Musique’ where she performed Schumann, Berg and Partridge together with pianist Jeff Cohen. She has also recorded Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis for the Stradivarius record label.
Since 2002, she has been working as an instructor of phonetics and diction in French repertoire at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. As an instructor, she has also hosted workshops for singers in Italian language at the Academy of music in Luxembourg. She is currently working as a singing teacher at the summer program, C.O.S.I. (Centre of Opera in Sulmona Italy) for advanced and developing singers, pianists and instrumentalists throught the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto (www.co-si.com).
Directions to Bobbio
By car: Drive onto the highway A1, Milan – Piacenza. Exit Piacenza South. After the tollgate, drive over the bridge and follow the indications Piacenza East. Stay on the left until you get to the roundabout and take another left turn onto the Route nationale SS 45 (Genova, Val Trebbia- Bobbio) .
By plane: You can fly to Milan- Linate, Malpensa or Orio al Serio. Take the bus from the airport to the Central Railway Station (Stazione Centrale). Take the train from Milan to Piacenza (Milano- Bologna). For further information see www.trenitalia.it

There is also a train going from Malpensa (Malpensa express) to the city centre of Milan (Métro Cadorna). Then take the subway to the Central station ( Stazione Centrale).
By train. Take the regional train from the Milan Central Railway station, Milan –Piacenza (duration: about 40 min)
From Piacenza take a bus to Bobbio, some you need to change in Rivergaro and take the connection to Bobbio. The bus-stop is opposite of the railway station (in front of the Bar Bologna). Duration: 1h10 min. In Bobbio the bus stops in San Francesco square (3 min walking distance to Palazzo S.Chiara).
