Career Planning

Career planning is the first step in finding the career of your choice. An important aspect of career planning is identifying career opportunities that meet your needs and fit your skills, interests, and abilities. Here at Executive Recruitment Resources, we provide access to many job search resources, which are tools designed to help you find career opportunities. We also provide training and support to help you build your own job search resources.

Occupational Outlook Handbook

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is a government agency that tracks information about jobs and workers. BLS publishes the Occupational Outlook Handbook(OOH) in printed and online editions. The OOH describes more than 200 occupations, including responsibilities, working conditions, education requirements, salary ranges, and job outlook. You can use the fast Internet connections in our office to search the OOH.

Networking

Networking is when you share information about yourself and your career goals with people you know already or new people you meet. One of these contacts might know of a job opening, or be able to introduce you to someone in a field that interests you. Employers like to hire people who come with a recommendation from someone they know and trust. That’s why networking is one of the best ways to find a job.

Networking is more than just chatting with others. It requires you to be focused and organized. It works best if you keep track of all the people you meet and talk to, and if you follow up by e-mail or phone.
