POSITION SUMMARY:
Serve as chief academic officer to oversee teaching and learning activities, curriculum and degree programs, instructional technology, and learning support. Provide leadership in institutional and program accreditation; articulate the College's courses and programs with other institutions.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Manage teaching and learning functions
Develop and train faculty (in particular new faculty) Curriculum, programs, coursework managements Organize and plan activities, functions and events
Manage instructional technology and its application and function
Assessment and related activities
Learning center operations and support; testing; incoming student assessment
Personnel and related activities
Manage and oversee budgets in area
Instructional planning and related activities Student matters
Dual credit and off campus offerings
Work with external accrediting bodies
Conduct evaluations and observations
Schedule building, coordination and related activities
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Ongoing new faculty development activities; Planning fine and performing arts events and activities, Managing schedule of course offerings, their rotation and coordination between sites, Oversee Title III grant activities, Plan for development in support of continuous improvement status by HLC, Facility and technology planning, Conduct departmental planning activities, Work directly and indirectly on AQIP projects, Program development and articulation.

Knowledge of department and college policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to answer work related questions; and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly in various situations.
Understand ECC student population and its related needs; know and understand the college's general education program as well as other related curricula; understand the purpose of a developmental program of studies and its ability to advance student learning; the applicability of assessment data; accrediting agencies and their needs; the unique relationship between the college and community; the needs of the student population. Know a certain amount of accrediting, hiring, and other statutory policies. Know college policies. Know and understand the college budget and related processes.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the community college mission
Position requires the following skills: management and supervisory skills; mediating skills; meeting management, personal counseling and intervention skills, observation skills, other related personnel skills. Most importantly the position requires the skill to rapidly assess situations and act effectively. Other skills are: some technical skills; budget development and management skills; planning skills.
Ability to manage large numbers of faculty and staff with varying experiences, needs and wants; the ability to assess situations and react with the appropriate level of intervention or attention; ability to organize, plan and conduct various campus and off campus events; to effectively conduct faculty interviews and evaluations; to manage conflict effectively; to apply appropriate perspective to situations; to prioritize conflicting demands on time and person; the ability to see the connectedness of instruction to other operations at the college; the ability to assess student situations and intervene as needed; the ability to assess individual's strengths and weaknesses and match with campus needs; the ability to apply creative solutions to the multitude of daily situations which arise. The ability to move from task to unrelated task seamlessly; the ability to understand the diverse demands placed on this office.

Perform executive or expert professional work to establish policy, long-range plans, and programs; identify funding sources; and allocate funds.
EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE:
Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, or custom applications. Supervise the activities of those operating or repairing complex machinery or technology systems.
Interpret policy and establish methods and procedures for acquiring, installing, testing, operating, or repairing machinery or technology systems.
Establish policy for the acquisition, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of machinery or technology systems.
Establish long-range plans and programs for capital improvements, major construction projects, or new technology systems.
