Splitting and felling made easy – with high-quality aluminium wedges from OCHSENKOPF

The stable wedges made of aluminium make felling and splitting work more economical, safer and easier – even in the case of frozen wood.

Remscheid, 23 May 2016 – Wedges are simply indispensable in the area of forestry as they facilitate the task of felling and splitting particularly thick, hard, gnarled and even frozen wood. These valuable tools are offered by OCHSENKOPF, the traditional manufacturer of excellent forestry equipment, in top quality and with well-conceived design for optimum and effective splitting.

Wedges forged from high-quality aluminium are particularly lightweight, stable and safe. When steel hammers are used for hammering in, no steel chips are splintered as there is no steel-on-steel contact. And when working with the motor saw, the saw chain is not damaged if it touches the wedge. OCHSENKOPF offers various aluminium wedges for a variety of applications.

·  Twisted aluminium splitting wedges are manufactured specially for splitting work. Their twisted design makes them particularly effective. The oval OX 41 twisted aluminium splitting wedge is inherently twisted by 30 degrees, enabling it to display a higher lift, splaying the log out further and more easily apart. Guide ribs additionally designed as barbed hooks guide the wedge straight into the wood and prevent it from jerking backwards. Thanks to its oval design, the OX 41 lies particularly snugly in the hand while hammering in. Reinforcements in the front section increase stability and extend the service life. The OX 41 twisted aluminium splitting wedge is protected as a German utility patent. It was awarded the Forestry Technology Prize by the Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) in 2012 and bears the “KWF-Standard” quality seal.

·  OX 42 aluminium massive wedges are equally suitable for felling and splitting. Acute-angled grooves on the front and double longitudinal grooves on the back prevent the wedge from jerking backwards. The OX 42 bears the “KWF Profi” quality seal.

·  OX 45/49 aluminium hollow-wedges with double longitudinal ribs on the front and back are also equally suitable for felling and splitting, especially where large wood diameters are involved. The hollow wedges are available in two different versions: one variant features an exchangeable wooden socket for a greater splay and splitting effect and avails of an additional aluminium ring which prevents splinters during driving-in. The second variant features a plastic shaft. It is particularly low-wear, weatherproof and bears the “KWF Profi” quality seal.

·  OX 43 aluminium chainsaw cutting and felling wedges were specially developed for applications involving the motor saw. An engraved herringbone pattern prevents the wedges from jerking backwards.

The OX 42 solid aluminium wedges from OCHSENKNECHT are equally suitable for felling and splitting.
