Notes from “Pre-Organizer’s Meeting” Meeting

  • The entry fees for each show will be left up to the organizer
  • There will be separate scoring system for 2 phases, ultimate 2 phases and 3 phases
  • If the organizers have their own insurance, they are not required to obtain insurance from MeCTA. But the organizer can still purchase insurance through MeCTA.
  • If the organizer would like to offer schooling on the day of the show after the shoe is completed, MeCTA insurance doesn’t cover this.
  • The organizer must show certificate of insurance
  • It’s required and an EMT is on the grounds from time first rider is mounted – including warm up
  • An L dressage judge is not required
  • There is no limitation on the number of events/organizer
  • 2 phases – it is at the organizer’s discretion how many levels the same horse may compete
  • 3 phases – each horse can only go xc once.
  • TA program –there needs to be more consistentency about the TA completing the pre event check. It should be done by at least 3 PM the day prior.
  • Suggestion for a Pre-event phone call – one month prior to event
  • Any current USEA member who has shown Novice or above within 5 years is eligible to be TA. (or is on USEA rider representative list).

New Business

  • We are working on some new proposed rule changes. These will be sent out to the membership and voted on at the March membership meeting. Details need to be sent out to membership 30 days prior to vote.
  • We need to update the MeCTA elementary dressage test – it was suggested that we use the USDF Intro Test C.
  • It was suggested that we arrange for the regional reps to have regularly scheduled regional meetings. Each region to decide what works best for that group. (phone, email, in person)
  • Debbie will discuss with the reps
  • The reps can then either join monthly membership meetings or send a report for their region.
  • In person board meetings – are these necessary? Further discussion needed on feasibility vs. effectiveness.
  • New USEA scoring – first fall at BN/N – if rider lands on his/her feet, 65 penalties. 2nd fall, elimination. Training and above – first fall – still elimination. MeCTA to adopt?
