2016 Awards

The following Awards will be presented at the Chamber’s 2016 Awards Gala on Saturday, April 2nd. The actual nomination form is page two of this document.

Pillar of the Community Award

This annual award was established in 1966 to recognize Chamber members who are dedicated to family, community, business or profession and have made a distinctive contribution to the enrichment of life within the greater Falls Church area.

Carroll V. Shreve Award

Established in 1987, this award is named for one of the Chamber’s earliest members and honors his contributions and that of his family to the well-being and prosperity of the residents of Northern Virginia. The award is presented by the Board of Directors on behalf of the Shreve family for meritorious community service. All members of the community, the Chamber, and the Chamber Board of Directors, are eligible to receive this award with the exception of past recipients.

Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce Appreciation Award

This award is provided to a member of the community, although not a Chamber Board member at the time of service, who has helped to support and build the Chamber and the business community in Falls Church.

James S. Elkin Memorial Award for Humanitarianism

This award was created in honor of James S. Elkin, Chamber leader and owner of Point of View Eyewear in Falls Church, following his passing on February 15, 2005. Its purpose is to honor outstanding humanitarian efforts such as those Mr. Elkin himself embarked on providing medical supplies, eye care and glasses to those living in poverty in Honduras. This award is not necessarily granted on an annual basis.

Nominations are due by Friday, March 11th and should be submitted to the Chamber Awards Committee (address below). Selection will be based on how well nominee’s activities meet award criteria and not based on the number of nominations received. Winners will be announced on Saturday, April 2ndat the Chamber’s Awards Gala to be held at theFairview Park Marriott.
