DenverNative Earns Master’s Degree

in Nurse Anesthesia from MidwesternUniversity

GLENDALE, Arizona (August 2018)—Jane Doe, M.S., of Denver, Colorado, has completed the Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Nurse Anesthesia in the College of Health Sciences at Midwestern University. An official graduation ceremony and conferring of degrees took place on the Midwestern University campus in Glendale, Arizona on August 23rd.

Ms. Doe is the daughter of Denver residents Ted and Alice Doe. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Scranton in 1992 and an M.S. in Health Sciences from the University of Arizona in 1996. While at Midwestern, she served as Class President and earned the Dean's Award for Academic Achievement. After graduation from Midwestern, Ms. Doe plans to work at Mayo Clinic as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

CRNAs are anesthesia specialists who provide anesthetics to patients in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, podiatrists, and other qualified health care professionals. They administer more than 32 million of the anesthetics given to patients each year in the United States, and are the primary anesthesia providers in the rural hospitals in the United States.

The Nurse Anesthesia Program at Midwestern University provides students with a solid foundation in the basic sciences as well as all aspects of anesthesia management. Graduates of the program work as CRNAs in a variety of settings, including urban and rural hospitals, same-day surgery centers, doctors’ offices, and pain clinics.
