Counselor In Training (CIT) Leader

Position Overview:

The Counselors in Training (CIT) Leader is responsible for training and supervising a group of 8-10 high school aged girls serving as Counselors in Training (CIT).

Get Connected! Camp is to be a life-defining summer camp experience for early teen girls.

The three goals of the camp include:

·  To motivate and challenge girls to grow deeper relationships – with God, with other girls, with parents and family, with non–believers, and with themselves.

·  To equip girls to make wise choices in today’s rapidly changing society.

·  To inspire and teach girls to live out their true identity as a unique, special, and beautiful daughter of the King of the Universe – their heavenly Father.

Reporting Structure: The CIT Leader reports to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

·  Assist in screening applications for CIT group, assist with interviews as needed (in collaboration with Camp Director)

·  Create age-appropriate training materials for CIT group

·  Lead team building and character shaping activities for the CIT group

·  Assist in building CIT rotation schedule to allow each person to assist in different areas throughout the week

·  Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to CITs

·  Lead small group and devotions for CITs

·  Provide meaningful feedback after camp is finished

·  Other duties as assigned by Camp Director

Desired Qualifications:

·  Strong faith and active participation in a faith community (references from a pastor, campus chaplain, or equivalent will be required, as well as one or more character references)

·  An understanding of the GEMS Girls’ Club ministry and Get Connected! Camp; previous experience with both is preferred but not required

·  Experience supervising teens

·  Strong leadership and coaching skills

An honorarium will be given for this position. The time commitment is approximately 1 hour per week from October 2015 through February 2016; 1-2 hours per week from March 2016 through July 2016; and mandatory full time attendance and participation throughout Get Connected! Camp from August 13 through August 20, 2016.
