COMMISSIONER’S PROCEEDINGS

REGULAR SESSION

May 17, 2016

The Lyman County Commissioners met in regular session in the Conference Room in the Courthouse at Kennebec, South Dakota, May 17, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. with the following members present: Chairman Ryan Huffman, Steve Perry, Adam Ehlers, Kim Halverson, Leroy Choal and Auditor Pam Michalek.

CALL TO ORDER:

Chairman Huffman called the meeting to order with the pledge to the flag.

HIGHWAY/WEED DEPT:

Supt. Tim Long discussed graveling at the Sharpe Bottom, TJ Trucking’s anticipated date of arrival and pipe replacement in Iona Twp. It was board consensus to lease a loader large enough and with a scale for use while contractor’s are hauling for the county.

Supt. Long informed the Commission that all the used bridge plank has been sold.

9:00 a.m. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE HEARING FOR SPECIAL EVENT:

Motion by Perry, seconded by Choal to approve the following special event license. All voting aye.

Type of License: Liquor & Malt Beverage Special One Day Event - May 21, 2016 - Bull Ride

TIRE DISPOSAL:

Director of Tri County Landfill Larry McManus met with the Commission to discuss tire disposal for Lyman County residents.

The SD Dept. of Health and DENR are providing 80/20 grant money for tire disposal due to the Zica virus threat. McManus has secured portions of the landfills $20,000.00 match from other government entities. Motion by Halverson, seconded by Choal to provide $4,000.00 to the landfill for a portion of the match and have a collection site at the Presho City dump. All voting aye.

Advertising will provide details for the upcoming tire disposal.

Motion by Halverson, seconded by Ehlers to approve a combined election agreement with the Chamberlain School District for the 2016 Primary. All voting aye.

MEETING DATE CHANGED:

Friday, June 10, 2016 will be Commission meeting date due to the Primary Election.

WIC CONTRACT:

Motion by Perry, seconded by Choal to approve the 2016-2017 WIC contract with the SD Dept. of Health. All voting aye.

ADJOURNMENT:

Motion by Halverson, seconded by Choal to adjourn until June 10, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. All voting aye.
