The United Methodist Midwest Mission Distribution Center is emptying its shelves of United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Cleaning Buckets. Yikes.Currently, volunteers are working quickly to assemble another 1,800 UMCOR Cleaning Buckets to go to Minnesota immediately, which will deplete MMDC of all of its supplies for UMCOR Cleaning Buckets. Your help is needed to restock the shelves with cleaning bucket materials.
You can help by donating supplies that go into the UMCOR Cleaning Bucket - follow the link HERE to see what goes into each bucket.
Here's how you can help:
*Donate supplies, by purchasing from one of MMDC's suppliers directly, by way of our "wishlist" - follow the link HERE.
*You also send monetary donations to MMDC to aid in replenishing supplies, indicate "Cleaning Buckets" in the memo line or send a donation to MMDC online HERE.
*For more information, call MMDC at 217-483-7911 and see if you can help put together supplies/kits, offering your time at MMDC. Pray for the Midwest Mission Distribution Center and for the recipients of these supplies, because they need your prayers.
*Questions? Call 217-483-7911 or e-mail .
*Follow the link for more information and learn how you can help restock. Click here.
volunteers roc – rebuilding our community
Previously registered volunteer church groups and individuals plus those yet-to-register as volunteers to southern Indiana disaster areas are requested to contact the Volunteer ROC Center to confirm registration or to make a new reservation. Some records have been lost and the loss is adding confusion to the volunteer process, therefore all volunteers registered are ask to double-check with Volunteer ROC by calling 812-565-CAMP (2267) or 574-231-7019.
Individuals and church group leaders wishing to volunteer through V-ROC or who are volunteering through one of our United Methodist churches doing tornado disaster recovery are asked to register through V-ROC so a record of their activity is available to recovery leaders. Register online on then “CLICK HERE” if you have a group to register or call 812-565-CAMP (2267) or 574-231-7019.
United Methodists have given more than 41,000 hours of volunteer service in southern Indiana and have contributed more than $600,000 for tornado recovery. Remember that volunteers are also working in the recovery center and will return a call with a message as soon as they possibly can do so. In the meantime, let’s all pray for the survivors of this disaster as they rebuild both their lives and their homes.
Thank you for your generous contributions and your service.

Did you know that if you are the pastor of a UMC or the immediate family member of a UMC pastor, that if you go to an IU Hospital for your health needs, that they will accept what our insurance pays, and FORGIVE the unpaid/personal portion?See the information on the conference website herefor more information (Clarion and Methodist systems are now all part of IU Health). That's a HUGE reason to consider the IU Health System!!
help nurture future clergy with a rejuvenate scholarship
In the past, young clergy have received little or no financial aid as they prepared for service in ministry. Our Indiana Conference Rejuvenate Committee, which helps clergy with personal finances, recently adopted a new policy to match scholarships for youth. If your church would like to support a worthy ministerial student, start a scholarship through the United Methodist Foundation of Indiana and Rejuvenate will match your contribution. That means a double benefit for those new young leaders. Contact Mary Ann Moman, the Rejuvenate Director at the Foundation, or Manet Shettle, the president of the UMFI, at 317-788-7879 to start a scholarship today.pastors—have you activated your INUMC email account
Vital Congregations/GCFA will be using inumc.org email addresses for pastors exclusively. So now your inumc.org email is a necessity. Once activated you can have it forwarded to your personal email address. Eventually this will be the only email address used by the District as well. Carla (877-781-6706) at the Conference Center will be happy to help you if you experience problems.united methodist men of the east district, unite!

PROMISE KEEPERS IS BACK!!
According to feedback from the first conference this year, people are saying that they’re better than ever.
The East District is organizing a trip to the Promise Keepers event Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio on August 17 and 18. Working with Juma Tours, we will be leaving from the Muncie area in a tour bus (place to be determined) at noon on Friday the 17th and returning on the 18th. We have rooms blocked at the Hilton Garden Inn (within walking distance of the venue) for Friday night; there will be two to a room. Trip includes your ticket, room, all travel, a box lunch onboard the bus Friday evening just before getting into Cleveland, and all the fellowship you can handle! Saturday’s breakfast and lunch is included. We will stop on the way home for dinner, place to be determined (not included in your price).
You may wish to bring some extra money for resources, t-shirts, etc., that will be available for sale.
Times for the event are Friday night from 6 pm – 9:30 pm, and Saturday 9 am – 4 pm.
Price for all the above is $195 per person, if you sign up before July 25. A $50 deposit is required at that time. After July 25, the price will be $225. So, sign up early!
If you have never attended a PK event, you are in for a weekend you will never forget. If you have attended before, bring along that friend that has never been. You may have someone you’ve been praying for that this may just be what he has been seeking.

vital congregation goals
Your Vital Congregation Goals for 2012 which were reported on your charge conference minutes need to be entered on the Vital Congregations website. Now that your church(es) has/have set their Vital Church Goals at Charge Conference, it is time to enter these goals online. This allows the Bishop and Conference leaders to compile all of our churches’ goals and present them at General Conference.
Many of our churches have already reported online the Vital Signs goals adopted at their 2011 Charge Conferences and are adding to their local church report by entering weekly activity. However, Bishop Coyner and the District Superintendents have heard of the confusion surrounding what you are being asked to report on a weekly basis. Therefore, the Cabinet decided to make the following suggested changes in your weekly reporting and the General Council on Finance and Administration has tried to accommodate their recommendations.
CHANGE #1 – Your weekly report form will now list seven questions but we are suggesting that you only answer five of them. At our request, they have added a new question which corresponds to the goal set at Charge Conference – “Total number of small groups”. You do NOT have to answer the question “Total number of persons actively engaged in small groups”.
CHANGE #2 – You do NOT have to answer the last question, “Total offering received this week through pledges and offerings”.
Please enter at least the following information:
#1 – Total worship attendance at all regularly-held weekly services
#2 – Total number of persons received into the church by profession of faith
#3 – Total number of small groups
#5 – Total number of persons from the congregation engaged in local, national and international mission/outreach
#6 – The total amount given by local church to other organizations for support of benevolent and charitable ministries
REPORTS - Once you enter and save your weekly information, you can click on the “Reports” tab at the top of your screen to see your local church’s dashboard of information.
IF YOU AREN’T RECEIVING A WEEKLY REMINDER EMAIL - The emails are being sent from “The United Methodist Church - (VitalSigns Group)” to inumc.org email addresses unless the Conference Center or District Centers have been notified otherwise. Some churches have found that the weekly emails are going directly to their spam folders and not to their in-box or new mail folders.
IF YOU CAN’T ENTER INFORMATION WEEKLY – Your weekly form contains four weeks’ worth of information and some of our churches are deciding to enter once or twice a month instead of every week understanding that weeks “rotate off” the form eventually.
Email if you have further questions.
