Information about Prince Edward

Our Vision:-

Parents. Employees, Pupils and Supporters

Working together for every chil’s best:

Progress, Enjoyment, Potential and Success

From September 2011 a learning partnership was formed between Prince Edward and Pipworth Primary Schools. The Schools are led by an executive head teacher. Prince Edward has a strong and talented senior leadership team that has learning as the focus for its work. The Governors want to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, creative and hardworking classroom teacher to join our supportive and committed team.

The School is situated on Manor Top at the crossroads of City Road and Prince of Wales Road to the west of Sheffield city centre. This is a deprived area of Sheffield. We have a Nurture group and effective SEN provision, including many different interventions to support learners who have had fewer chances in their very early education than most children. We are a very inclusive school.

The school is easily accessible by car, bus or tram. It is enclosed by a secure perimeter fence.

There are approximately 315 children aged from three to eleven years in the school. They are currently taught in 12 classesplus a Nursery. From September 2013 there will be an additional class. The classrooms are situated on three link corridors.

The building also contains a large hall for Collective Acts of Worship, dining and performances. We also have a large scale gym.

The main office is accessed by the gate from Prince of Wales Road. All visitors entering the building during the day should enter by this point. The school has an access control system on all external doors.

Closed circuit television cameras also control the building and grounds.

Teachers work in ‘teams’ to plan, teach and assess children’s work. At certain times for some subjects children are placed in ‘target’ groups and may work with a teacher who is not their normal class teacher. The structure of classes from September 2013 will be as follows:-

SEPTEMBER 2013

Foundation / Key Stage 1 / Key Stage 2
Nursery / 2 x Year 1 / 2 x Year 3
2 x Reception Classes / 2 x Year 2 / 2 x Year 4
2 x Year 5

The school was inspected by Ofsted in November 2011. Please look at the full Ofsted report on the Ofsted website. The school continues to undertake rigorous self-evaluation and has a comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
