SESSION DESCRIPTION

Baseball; Review of the previous high school season; new rules and regulations; field clinics approved; official’s selection process for state series events; evaluation process; questions and concerns. Justin Harrison, FHSAA Staff Member, will be presenting.

Basketball: Review of the previous high school season; challenges encountered by the FHSAA staff and listen to concerns from those in attendance. Camps and field clinics approved will also be reviewed. Shanell Young, FHSAA Staff Member, will be presenting.

Field Clinic (Soccer): An FHSAA Soccer Field Clinic that counts towards 2011-12 Field Clinic Credit. Instructors will focus on problem areas within each sport as well as everything an official needs to know from basic rules knowledge to improvement of mechanics. Clinic will include live scrimmaging amongst high school teams and each official will be afforded the opportunity to work in a live game situation.

*Attendees must register and pay for the field clinic separate from the conference registration to receive Field Clinic Credit.

Football: Review of the previous high school season and provide an update for the upcoming football season. Current topics will be discussed with a Q & A session. Mike Parks, FHSAA Official from Miracle Strip Officials Association, will be presenting.

Lacrosse: Review of the previous high school season; new rules and regulations; field clinics approved; challenges encountered by the FHSAA staff and the future of Lacrosse as an emerging sport in Florida. Cristina Broska and Alex Ozuna, FHSAA Staff Members, will be presenting.

Navigating the Online Officials Program: Review of the 352 Officials Program that was fully implemented during the 2010-11 season. A tutorial will be given on how to navigate the system to find important information for both individual officials and association leadership. Jana Horton, FHSAA Staff Member, will be presenting.

New Officials Orientation: A session designated to associations for sharing their new official orientation techniques. The FHSAA will also review the steps on how an inquiry to the FHSAA leads to the registration process and ensuring new officials know all requirements up front. Jana Horton, FHSAA Staff Member, will be presenting.

Open Forum: These sessions are designed to open the communication lines between Associations and allow for discussion of “hot topics” that Associations might be experiencing across the state and how they’re being dealt with in each specific area. Dr. Peggy Jones and Justin Harrison, FHSAA Staff Members, will be leading.

Soccer: Review of the previous high school season, review of the new changes for the upcoming season, field clinic information, selection process for state series, DDS update. Justin Harrison and Cristina Broska, FHSAA Staff Members, will be presenting.

Softball: Review of the previous high school season; new rules and regulations; field clinics approved; questions and concerns. Jamie Rohrer, FHSAA Staff Member, will be presenting.

Softball Evaluation Program: A review of the current softball evaluation program, common mistakes seen by State Softball Evaluators and what it takes to become a State Series and State Championship Official. Jamie Rohrer, FHSAA Staff Member, Larry Norton and Diane Kendall, State Evaluators, will be presenting.

Volleyball: Review of the previous high school season; administrative challenges encountered by the FHSAA Office and Associations, new rules and regulations and state series assignments. Jamie Rohrer, FHSAA Staff Member will be presenting.

Wrestling: Review of the previous high school season, issues encountered by FHSAA Staff and Tournament Officials (i.e. dealing with weigh-ins & NWCA weight management program); recent updates and a Q & A session. Greg Bondurant, FHSAA Wrestling Official, will be presenting.
