POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR DIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION MINISTRY

Central Lutheran Church, Eugene, Oregon

The Director of Faith Formation Ministry at Central Lutheran Church will provide vision, energy, leadership and oversight of ministries for the church family (churched and unchurched) in the “First Third of Life” (birth through young adult). Working collaboratively with a team, this person will design, grow, and shepherd comprehensive, transformative, and expanding ministries of faith formation that are innovative and inclusive. The Director will build relationships with and equip the church family to be disciples of Jesus Christ: loving God and each other, nurturing faithful living, helping others, and sharing the Good News. We are looking for someone who will seek God’s guidance to explore, create, and implement effective faith formation opportunities.

Qualifications

§  Vibrant and growing Christian faith

§  Passion for outreach to children, youth, college students, and young adults

§  Basic understanding of Lutheran theology and eagerness to learn more about what it means to be a Lutheran Christian

§  Relationship-driven, collaborative

§  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

§  Excellent technological skills (social media, presentation forms, etc.)

§  Bachelor of Arts (or equivalent) minimum, Master of Arts preferred, but not required

§  Minimum of three years of leadership experience in the field of children, youth and family ministry

Job Responsibilities

þ  Model and raise the value of a Christ-centered lifestyle by working to minister and serve along with the church family.

þ  Work collaboratively with the senior pastor and other church staff as an effective partner in ministry.

þ  Establish and build trusting and supportive relationships with children, youth, families, college students and young adults.

þ  Build and train a dynamic Faith Formation Team to develop and implement effective strategies to reach the families of Eugene, Oregon.

þ  Collaborate with Christian Education Team to develop and coordinate faith formation opportunities for Sunday School (nursery through grade 12), middle and high school youth groups, college and young adults that emphasizes growing in faith.

þ  Recruit, train, and supervise parents and other volunteers to support faith formation programs and activities.

þ  Assist in maintaining “safe church” policies and procedures.

þ  Assist in worship services as needed and plan and direct special youth-related services.

þ  Assist in the formation and responsible management of budgets related to family ministries.

þ  Engage in continuing education to stay abreast of current models and trends concerning faith formation ministry by attending workshops, seminars, workshops, conferences, and literature review.

þ  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Status: Full-time salaried position, benefits included

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Supervises: Nursery/Sunday School Coordinator, Youth Coordinator, Campus/Young Adult Coordinator

Evaluator: Senior Pastor

Salary Range: $37,000-$45,000, depending on educational level and experience
