  • Teams may consist of six competitors.Only 5 will compete on floor and 5 on vault. All will score.
  • Schools may, if they wish, enter a team of only five competitors.

  • Six separately listed moves from sections B-C, with a maximum of three from section B
  • Two separately listed moves from section D

  • Difficult moves poorly executed will be heavily penalised.
  • Links should be danced based and not skills based. You cannot use other named skills as a linking move, except from section D. Examples of linking skills include: -
  • Rolls not feet to feet – to sitting, knees,
  • Walkovers not to feet – to sitting or splits
  • Cartwheel on elbows
  • Shushanova
  • The judges/committee decision on the day is final.

Music

This may be one instrument or orchestral but must not be vocal. Disney, Cirque du Soleil and Andrew Lloyd Webber music is not permitted (0.3 deduction)

Length of music to be 45-70 seconds (beep not included). Music and movement must finish together.

A named CD with only the gymnast’s music at the beginning.

Scoring System for Floor

Teachers are respectfully urged to read carefully and comply with the rules, as every year marks are deducted from otherwise good sequences for failure to do this.

Notes for guidance

To each competition each gymnast should bring:

  • 3 copies of the list of agilities, in order with each tariff, section, and the total tariff shown, using the SSGA floor template.
  • A named and/or numbered CD with only the gymnast’s music at the beginning.

Vaulting tariff sheet

Vault over a crossways box or horse (as available) with the use of a Spring board. Only the Surrey Schools Spring board provided may be used.

Before each competition start, each gymnast can only have one warm up on vault. Competitors will have one warm-up vault at the start of their vault round and then each gymnast will have one warm up vault followed by two judged attempts at vaulting and the higher mark will count. Gymnasts may attempt 2 different vaults but will only have one warm-up.

Scoring System for Vault

There are 4 parts: -

First flight – flight onto the apparatus 3 (2 if squat on)

Repulsion phase – shape and form when in contact with the apparatus 3

Second flight – flight after leaving the apparatus3

Badly executed or dangerous handspring will be heavily penalised.

The safety of the gymnasts is paramount. The judges and/or committee reserve the right to deny a gymnast from competing a Handspring if it is felt to be dangerous in warm ups.
