Internal Assessment Document

This document is designed to assist Local Masajid and Centers in the development of a Model Islamic Community. The document uses a rating system described below that will allow members of a Masjid or Center assess the effectiveness of their efforts in the categories listed below. This strategic planning process is designed ideally for a retreat setting with a facilitator who would assist in providing clarification of the specific topics so that each Believer participating in the assessment would share a common understanding of what each topical area means.

RATING SYSTEM:5=fully agree 4= strongly agree; 3=somewhat agree; 2= somewhat disagree; 1= strongly disagree; 0= don’t know/should know

I.DEFINITION OF RELATIONSHIPS
Relationship with other Masajid/Centers in area clearly defined and effective
Consultation is used in identification of Masjid priorities and implementation strategies
Relationship between local Masjid and State/Regional/National/International Shuraa processes is clearly defined and effective
II.INTERVENTION - INTEGRATED SERVICES 1DELIVERY
Fundamentals are prioritized, implemented and promoted by Masjid leadership (Salat, Zakat, Saum and Hajj)
Islamic Instructional and Dawah materials to be used are appropriate vis a vis the reading and comprehension levels of Muslims and the public
Masjid projects and activities are ranked and timed.
An internal monitoring system is in place to assess effectiveness of activities
Masjid Vision and Mission are linked to activities and anticipated outcomes.
Dawah strategy is clearly defined and effective
Training and education frequency and types are clearly identified and implemented for membership
Youth development activities are prioritized and clearly defined
Comprehensive planning is evident (i.e. education, economic development, political involvement, social services, health services...etc)
Services and support for pioneer members are prioritized and implemented
III. Relationships with other Faith Groups and Governmental Entities
Interfaith dialogue is prioritized by the Masjid
Interfaith joint projects are planned and implemented
Relationship between Masjid and City & County Government is cooperative and productive
Relationship between Masjid and State Government is cooperative and productive
Relationship between Masjid and Federal Government is cooperative and productive
IV.APPLICATION OF Developing a Model Islamic Community
There is a clear definition of what a Model Islamic Community is by Masjid Members
There is a time line and benchmarks in place toward the development of a Model Islamic Community
The broader local Muslim Community accepts the idea of the development of a Model Islamic Community
