With Kindest Respect and with Deepest Admiration, We Pay Tribute to Lucy Murphy

A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Lucy Murphy upon the occasion of her 103rd Birthday.

With kindest respect and with deepest admiration, we pay tribute to Lucy Murphy.

WHEREAS, Lucy Murphy was born on May 27, 1894, the adored daughter of Lola and Jimmy Allen, and she is a native of Casey County, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Lucy Murphy is the widow of George Wesley Murphy; and

WHEREAS, no language can express the power and beauty, the heroism and greatness of a mother's love, and Lucy Murphy is the loving mother of four living daughters, Myrtle M. Harmon, Irene M. Lay, Mattie M. Decker, and Helena M. McDonald; and four living sons, Sherwood Murphy, Sherman Murphy, Edwin Murphy, and Claude Murphy; and three deceased sons, Fred Murphy, Kenneth Murphy, and James Benjamin Murphy; and

WHEREAS, Lucy Murphy is the proud grandmother of thirty-six grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Lucy Murphy is a highly respected citizen of the Casey County community, and she is a devout member of the Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church where she still attends services regularly; and

WHEREAS, through the years, Lucy Murphy has spent countless hours quilting for her family, she remains alert, and her vision enables her to continue reading daily; and

WHEREAS, Lucy Murphy will be 103 years of age on May 27, 1997;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body is indeed proud to celebrate the life of Lucy Murphy who has brought light and inspiration to all the lives she has touched throughout her 103 years.

Section 2. This honorable body hails and commends Lucy Murphy, and applauds her for her strong character and high moral principles.

Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Lucy Murphy upon this the occasion of her 103rd birthday.

Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Lucy Murphy, 839 Memory Lane, Liberty, Kentucky 42539.
