Required Position Qualifications______

·  Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education or related field (or equivalent experience)

·  Minimum of 1 year professional experience with families and youth in crisis situations and demonstrated competences in managing crisis situations;

·  Experience in educational settings and/or school systems preferred;

·  Capacity to effectively engage people with diverse identities, including intersecting identities of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, and sexual orientation/gender identity and expression;

·  Strong written and oral communication as well as organizational skills;

·  Facility with word processing, database management, and web navigation;

·  Administrative skills such as program development, data collection & analysis, evaluation, reporting and project management;

·  Valid MI driver’s license, current auto insurance and access to reliable transportation.

Purpose of Position:______

The Education Program Coordinator provides McKinney-Vento services to help homeless children and youth succeed in school. Working closely with School District Homeless Liaisons and School Building Allies, the Education Program Coordinator will assist with transportation, basic needs, school supplies and referrals to local resources. Additional responsibilities include crisis intervention with students and families, data entry and management, volunteer coordination, marketing and other administrative tasks. Currently, this role is supported by a 1-year grant.
