Main purpose of role:

To be responsible for the charity’s online presence, driving the online strategy and ensuring content and digital communications are developed in support of the charity’s communications and fundraising strategy

Main tasks and responsibilities

Digital marketing

  • Develop the charity’s presence across the internet through other websites, partnerships, social media channels, SEO and PPC etc.
  • Liaise with all teams to ensure online presence is matched to and campaigns are integrated with offline and other media activity.
  • Develop new and innovative digital activities that aim to recruit new supporters and maximise long-term net income for the charity.

Website

  • Work with project team and digital agency to contribute the implementation of a new website for the charity.
  • Ensure the websites integration with other database and systems (email, donations, shop etc.)
  • Going forward, manage and develop the websites so they continue to serve the requirements of the charity.
  • Be responsible for SEO strategy and the guardian of best practice at Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

Digital Content

  • Coordinate content production from all functions of the charity – commissioning, editing and producing as post, pages, video, infographics, blogs etc. as appropriate.
  • Source creative services, photographer, illustrators and designers as appropriate, develop contract, brief requirements and manage suppliers relations.

Social media and email strategy

  • Contribute to the development and oversee on the implementation of the charity’s email and social media strategies.
  • Ensure all departments are making appropriate use of email and social media to meet their team’s objectives.
  • Provide training and guidance to other teams as required.

Measurement and control

  • Monitor and analyse Muscular Dystrophy Campaign online presenceand web related financial statistics.
  • Use insights to devise remedial action and/or maximise the charity online presence and fundraising success.

Other

  • Manage the Digital Marketing Executive, setting their objectives and providing advice and guidance to ensure they deliver tactical plans which meet their objectives to budget and deadline.
  • Ensure staff receives relevant training and guidance so charity’s online impact can be maximised – CMS, social media, email marketing, images and videos etc.
  • To ensure all online communications are in line with Muscular Dystrophy’s values, brand and tone of voice; and in line with direct marketing best practice.
  • To keep up to date with trends and opportunities for maximising online presence and income generation.
  • To carry out any other tasks as requested by the Head of Direct Marketing and Digital.

Extent of authority

  • Prioritising and planning own workload to meet objectives.
  • Liaison with other staff without referral.

Initiative/Analysis

  • Initiative in recommending to Director the areas to be considered as part of overall charity strategy.
  • Initiative in anticipating and solving own problems and informing of the impact on other areas as appropriate.
  • Initiative in identifying and developing useful contacts to achieve Muscular Dystrophy Campaign's goals.
  • Analysis of trends within own area.
  • Initiative in liaising with others across the charity to maximise impact.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years experience running a public facing website / Essential
Experience of developing and delivering online solutions to support marketing and fundraising / Essential
Experience of innovation using social media to engage existing and new online audiences / Essential
Experience of developing visual and written content for the web / Essential
Experience of managing email marketing programmes / Essential
Experience of driving donor acquisition through digital campaigns / Desirable
